OMG- McCain campaign apologizes to British Embassy for LYING that Palin met the British Ambassador!
For G-d's sake, these people have no shame... Palinochio's whopper gets her in trouble with the British Embassy!

Pathetic!

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/worldnews/article-1066426/Sarah-Palin-blunders-talks-British-ambassador-took-place-TV-debate-looms.html

Sarah Palin has committed yet another political blunder after claiming she had held talks with a British ambassador - talks that never actually took place.

In an answer to questions about her foreign policy experience ahead of tonight's make-or-break vice presidential TV debate, her aides listed numerous contacts with foreign officials - including Britain's ambassador to Washington, Sir Nigel Sheinwald.

However the meeting never occurred. Officials at the embassy swiftly contacted the McCain-Palin campaign to inform them of the discrepancy.

A British Embassy spokesman said the error arose after Sir Nigel's name was listed among those who had attended a US Governor's meeting in July.

Blunder: Sarah Palin has been forced to apologise after she mistakenly claimed she had met with British ambassador Nigel Sheinwald at an event which he did not actually attend

Mrs Palin was at the meeting in her role as Governor of Alaska. However Sir Nigel pulled out at the last minute, leaving his name on the guest list.

The embarrassing mishap comes as Mrs Palin faces the biggest challenge of her political life tonight in a head--head vice-presidential debate with Democratic candidate Joe Biden.

4. Why the big deal with Biden and gaffes...
His last one was almost a year ago (Obama being clean and articulate). Palin has been the VP nom for a month and already holds the world record on gaffes.

6. Biden has made some gaffes recently, but they are of a minor
magnitude (for example, saying Hillary Clinton would havebeen a better VP pick) compared to Palin's which I would argue are not mere gaffes, but diqualifying, lack-of knowledge about economics, foreign policy, history, and just about every issue that the next president will need to manage.

35. interesting that they took the time to correct that
It risks having bad blood between the British ambassador and the president, if McCain were to win.

It was a totally insignificant thing to say about the ambassador, and therefore could easily have been allowed to slide (which I would have expected from a diplomat), yet he clearly didn't appreciate being used to pad her resume. McCain must be REALLY unpopular even among the diplomatic corps and they must REALLY be hoping he'll lose.

21. That's Sarah Palin! Making the world hate us even more!
Finishing off the job Bush started!

Ugh!

Why is Joe the gaffe machine? That's so unfair! Plus, his gaffes are usually rather small in comparison to Palin's. I mean c'mon, which is more important: that Joe didn't realize Truman didn't go on TV at the start of the Great Depression because Truman wasn't president yet and TV wasn't invented yet (although Truman DID go on TV in years afterward) or that Sarah Palin can't fucking answer simple straightforward questions about what newspapers she reads, what other Supreme Court cases she disagrees with other than Roe v Wade or what she thinks about the bailout?

COME ON! GIVE ME A FUCKING BREAK!

Sarah Palin's theme song is now officially the Kit Kat jingle.

24. That's what's so wrong with McCain
He was given SEVERAL chances to redeem himself or just correct himself without losing too much face and he didn't take them!

Same with Sarah Palin, she wouldn't have been knocked so much for her "In what respect, Charlie" if she hadn't failed to answer the goddamned question after Charlie Gibson clarified what the Bush doctrine is.
