Palin's young child was holding the baby ~ how old is that little girl?

At first I thought it was a doll she was holding standing beside the place.

Did anyone else see that one?

It's actually pretty sneaky.

3. I know someone who thinks it is a doll.
Seriously, you never see the baby move. Then, as if that wasn't a strange enough thought, some TV station (I think Bravo) is running a documentary about a small subset of women who carry around dolls that are creepily lifelike, and pretend they are real babies (I am not making this up). Added to the fact that she never appeared to be pregnant - well, you connect the dots!

5. Those dolls
are no creepier than the way some people treat pets. At least the doll is not a sentient being that is subjected to someone's silly little dress-up fantasy.

8. But it indicates something about the woman (these are full grown women)
who are living in a fantasy land. I don't think it's the same thing at all (not condoning the way some people treat their little dogs).

13. I actually saw one, a few weeks ago.
The actress named Jamie Lee Curtis was carrying one around in a thrift shop in San Francisco.

Talking to it, too.

by the way, I still think that trig is probably bristol's, and that she got pregnant again immediately afterward. and seriously, I would love to see the dna on both trig and the new baby. almost betting that second one isn't levi's.

11. I met one of those women once
I was selling a bunch of household items at a flea market. She came around with a twin stroller with two of those fugly dolls propped up in it. She was looking for children's clothing. For the dolls.

She was freaking bizzare. She reminded me of Mo Collin's 'Trina' character on Mad TV.

20. Where do you live? Just wondering cuz I've never heard of them here in CT.
Maybe there's something wrong with New England, but I also visit Boston often and nobody's heard of them there either.

I live in Bellingham, but we were going down to a drive-in close to Seattle to do the flea markets. A lot of strange people there, but they come from all over as well.

It's one thing to have a cat or dog to feather your empty nest...heck, I'll probably wind up being the 'cat lady' someday...at least they're living beings. But these dolls and their obsession for them is creepy.

edit to add: She was talking to these dolls and asking their opinions etc. VERY weird, although in a batty harmless way.

24. Maybe it's just one of those things that catches on in certain parts of the country.
It is pretty strange. And kinda scary, if you know what I mean? I often wonder if people without really good roots in a community are vulnerable to this kind of thing. Do you think that has something to do with it?

33. Dunno. It's probably all over.
Women who live in social isolation are probably more vulnerable, but I find it weird that they are attracted to communing with inanimate objects. I would have a pet, since you get love and social interaction with an animal. Of course, maybe they are lacking even those basic interactive skills.

Men also get realistic dolls to dress up for company- only those are more adult size if you know what I mean and they don't take 'em out much.

It just seems sad.

15. They are called "reborn" dolls and they are really creepy. I've never met
anyone who has one, but I'm afraid I would suspect some sort of mental instability.

The pictures just make me feel kind of strange.

6. A Better Question...
Who is taking care of the 3 younger kids? The 15 yr old needs a parent around. 1st Dude is always with Sarah. The 7 yr old needs a Mama. And the special needs baby is being virtually ignored right now by his mother. What kind of family is this anyway? Are these childern being raised by wolves?

29. Miss Sarah handed off the baby to little Willow so she could glad hand
after she'd walked down the plane stairs...holding little Trig with one hand, waving to the adoring crowds with the other. (Husband said what's wrong with that woman? Look how she's handling that baby. Is that safe?)

14. Some resentment
And some grow up with resentment about having had to do that!

While I'm all for teaching children to be responsible, pushing off too many parental responsibilities onto your other children because you have too many children to take care of, are too busy, whatever the reason, is not the way to go.

And I see that happening in the Palin family. I have not once seen Todd holding that baby. Maybe I missed it, but has anyone else seen the father with the baby? It's always one of the other children who is holding Trig.

16. My older children held my babies when they were even younger than Piper
because they loved the baby and wanted to hold them. Just because you see an older child holding a baby, don't assume that the baby has always been pushed on them by the parent(s) because they have more children than they can care for. As far as Todd holding the baby, I did see him holding Trig at the convention and he looked quite comfortable doing so.

18. Individuals
I'm sure there are families in which children are happy to help with younger brothers and sisters.

But there are also families in which the older children resent the fact that they are burdened with the care of younger children.

The "assumption" (your words) that I made about the Palin family is because I always see the other children holding the baby.

23. That is my question. Getting off of a plane is pretty tricky
Getting off with a Special Needs new born is another story.

There is no way I would have been in her position and have let my young daughter, in all that excitement, carry that darling little boy.

No way.

Husband was doing nothing to help as far as I could tell.

I never saw her even look at the baby and the child was being treated as a rag doll IMO.

Don't they have a Special Person that could have helped them exit that plane?

If you can't be a caring mother how can you care for our country 24/7?

25. I raised 7
and they are a very tight group.. even the one that carried around her little sister and taught her to count..:)

I have seen Todd with the baby a few times during the convention..

I agree in principle that people need to raise their own kids..but sometimes to meet the need of one you need another to help.

It is a joy to see my children together.. I had only one sibling and we are miles apart emotionally ...

32. Because they’re using it as a political prop…seriously
Before I ever even heard of Sara P..weeks ago, I was listening to American Family Radio at work (we listen to it for fun and mock the ignorant nuts etc..) anyway, they said Sara had a downs syndrome baby that she decided not to abort, and that as part of the abortion debate, she could parade her downs syndrome baby out that that would be very effective…they actually said she should use the baby like that..
