Just saw a scrawl on one of the TV stations.
I predicted this, if you recall.

55. You have nothing to fear but Putin's head rearing up.
And even if that happens, Sarah is on the job. And you don't live in Alaska anyway.
Minds, like onions, have many layers. But there the resemblance ends. I think.

If true, she's just playing the sympathy factor to the extreme. This reeks of desperation.

It's not true of course. Baby will be asleep by then, and Sarah has probably stored up some milk in advance.

And a former La Leche League leader... you don't get too much more pro-breastfeeding than me. But even I am offended by this. She can easily go for a couple of hours without breastfeeding that child- even a newborn could go that long. I am hoping that this is a joke.

I had a difficult time pumping enough milk. However, she has known in advance she had somewhere to be tonight, why didn't she pump over a few days and freeze so her child would have enough for a couple hours?

If this isn't a joke, I hope they let her, it'll backfire.

She surely can't mean to be telling us that this child has never had a bottle up to this point? And if she cannot be unavailable to him for a mere 90 minutes then what in the name of all that is reasonable is she doing running for VP??

31. Seriously...
The child is.. what? 5 months old by now? Obviously he can go for 90 minutes without being fed. And if he can't then she shouldn't be vying for such a demanding position as VP.

I am positive that this is a ploy for attention and to show that she is "balancing" her roles as mother and candidate. If there is one criticism she has been getting from the religious right, then it is that she could not possibly be giving her children adequate attention. I'll wager she is doing this to show what an amazing mama she is... we're all supposed to admire her devotion ... or something:eyes:

Then how does she function as Governor of Alaska, if she can't go without breastfeeding for 2 hours? This has to be a joke. I breastfed both my kids, and this is nuts!

110. That was my reaction until I realized it must be a joke. She
hasn't had the baby with her all of the time campaigning.
Going back to work after 3 days, even though she may have brought the baby, there is no way that baby hasn't had bottles. I don't know that she nursed at all because I am sure we'd have heard about it, the super-mom thing. The nursing governor...

In any case 2 hours would be easy enough to arrange like you said. (I do recall starting college and during 3rd or 4th hour of the CLEP tests I heard a baby cry outside the window suddenly the front of my shirt was sodden. My son was 3 months old and that was the first feeding I had missed...and didn't know that could happen. Now that would make for an interesting VP debate...)

43. My issue with it IF it is true...
Edited on Thu Oct-02-08 02:30 PM by HereKittyKitty
I am breastfeeding twins. They are only slightly older than Trig Palin. For MONTHS now, I have been able to go more than 90 minutes between feedings, and I am NOT tandem feeding- I just could never get the hang of it.

SO I'm spending double the time breastfeeding than she is and I would be able to make it through the debate tonight without popping out a boob.

If my babies COULDN'T go that long and I was pumping for work already (Which she supposedly has been doing so she could be Governor), I'd pump an extra bottle so someone else could feed the baby during the debate.

I'm NOT pumping because have never been away from my babies for more than 10 minutes or so at a time, but if I were in a VP debate tonight, I'd make sure there was pumped milk available for them.

If true, This is a ploy to bring attention to her status as "Supermom" (She's not, but that's how the Repugs portray her). "Breastfeeding AND running for VP- This woman can do it all!"

I hope that people will see if for the silliness that it is.

It work very well for Obama's poll numbers if Palin did try a stunt like that. Too bad it's not going to happen.

Edited on Thu Oct-02-08 03:19 PM by Alter Ego
because there's no way they'll let her do it on stage in front of a camera.

Seriously, where is Candid Camera?

EDIT: Asshole. You had me going there, though--I guess that truly is a testament to the parody the McCain campaign has become.

The comment was misinterpreted.

'Bebe Au Lait' and 'Hooter Hiders' nursing covers.

(Euro mode)
WTF is wrong with you Americans? Why do you have this pathological obsessions with tits and nudity. I'm sick of hearing Americans babble about 'inappropriateness' whenever they see exposed breasts, genitalia, or asses. This society has an absolutely pathological disconnect with biology.

Americans install 'neuticles' in dogs that have had their testicles removed because their owners feel threatened by it, go into paroxysms about wardrobe malfunctions, and are hopelessly neurotic about sex. This is a non-partisan failing, half of the comments here at DU are as neurotic as anything posted at Freeperland. Y'all need a giant mental enema, folks.

86. Let her daughter breast feed...
Being near the end of her pregnancy, Palin's daughter could have been induced to lactate by tactile or suction stimulation over two weeks to cause the pituitary to release oxytocin. However it is too late now so maybe she can send her pregnant teen daughter to debate while Palin breast feeds. At any rate, Breast feeding during the debate is out because from lapel mike we will only hear slurping instead of her arguments...maybe that would sound better!
