If McCain gives up on Michigan, how exactly is he going to win the presidency?
Let's be frank: The only way McCain was going to win the presidency was by:

a) Carrying all the Bush states. That's not gonna happen. IA, NM,CO,VA are leaning strongly toward Obama. NC, IN, MO, FL, and OH are very close or tied.

b) Carrying a large Kerry State. At this point, NH (which is leaning Obama anyway) will not get McCain past 270. He needs Michigan, PA, MN, or WI. All of those 4 states are for Obama. But the closest state (the only state of those 4 that actually had polls showing McCain leading) was Michigan. Now that he's pulling out, what is he going to do to win? Try carrying California?

Can someone explain a realistic scenario where McCain can win?

1. It's a simple answer: He's not.
Because he can't.

There is no realistic scenario!

:woohoo: :woohoo:

6. And still lose.

Obama only needs to win the Kerry states plus Iowa (which is now a gimme), plus NM and CO, and he wins. He doesn't even need Ohio, Florida or Virginia.

3. At this point, there is no reasonable scenario. McCain wins in only one of two ways:
1) Election fraud is possible on a much broader level than even most DUers are willing to concede.

2) Obama, in the words of Edwin Edwards, gets "caught in bed with either a dead girl or a live boy."

4. I think he'll focus everything on PA
That's really his only hope. I guess he can try to knock out MN and WI, but that'll be really hard if he's also going to try to compete in PA.

No, I bet he goes all in on Pennsylvania.

But ultimately, he just conceeded.

10. Latest poll has him down 15% there.
I don't see a path to victory for him.

8. I'm afraid it's too close to call in MN, at the moment.
And I wouldn't be surprised if it flipped. The RNC has a little to do with it. Also, there a quite a few 'hockey moms' in this state who sound just like Governor Palin when they talk. I hope to God it doesn't happen but don't put us in the safe column just yet. Perhaps after tonights debate we can be rest assured of Obama taking MN...

9. I have to disagree. After the RNC convention when polls were tied,
there were some MN polls that showed Obama barely up (1-2 points) or tied. Now, Obama is up by 5-8 points, and it is safe to assume there was movement in MN. If a new poll of MN came out today, I'd expect a high single digit lead for Obama, maybe even double digits.

13. The latest polls from PA:
Morning Call Tracking 09/27 - 10/01 610 LV 50 41 Obama +9
Quinnipiac 09/27 - 09/29 832 LV 54 39 Obama +15
Franklin & Marshall 09/23 - 09/28 767 RV 45 38 Obama +7
FOX News/Rasmussen 09/28 - 09/28 500 LV 50 42 Obama +8
SurveyUSA 09/23 - 09/24 1094 LV 50 44 Obama +6
Strategic Vision (R) 09/21 - 09/23 1200 LV 47 46 Obama +1
CNN/Time 09/21 - 09/23 730 LV 53 44 Obama +9

All of them show a strong Obama lead, except for one. And OMG, A Republican pollster was responsible for the poll that shows Obama up only 1. Coincidence?

16. PA, Obama is up 15% in the latest poll.
mcPOW cannot flip PA AND defend the others, where Obama is also surging.

15. If someone posts a viable, reality-based map that shows mcPOW's
path to victory, please PM it to me. I haven't found a winning scenario for him since IA and NM solidified for Obama. Obama needs only one more state, VA, CO, MO, IN, NC, FL or OH will do it. He is leading in all of those(execpt IN and MO) at the moment. I just don't see how mcPOW can reclaim or take any other of Obama's to win.

We are nearing a tipping point, if we haven't passed it already, where the math will be impossible for mcPOW.
