For those predicting a landslide for Obama..
Edited on Thu Oct-02-08 12:44 PM by GarbagemanLB
it is going to be a close election.

Let me start by saying I believe Obama will win because of his superior ground game and the fact that the economy will likely be dominating the headlines between now and November 4th. McCain has shown himself to be totally incompetent in this field.

However, in the final weeks of this campaign, expect Wright and Ayers ads to go up across the country in heavy, heavy rotation. Yes, there are some ads like that running right now, but this is basically all the Republicans have left. They need to change the media narrative and focus on the scare tactics. Frankly, I wouldn't be surprised if ads started touting his middle name as well and insinuating that he is a Muslim. Of course, this will be done by 527s and the McCain campaign will keep its hands 'clean' of the whole thing.
They will be pushing the race and cultural issues hard, because it is all they have left....and the 527s sure have the money to fund many airings of such ads.

The candidate of ours has a 'funny name', is half African-American (which is fully African-American to most people), and has an 'exotic' background with 'exotic' friends. (Look, I agree that Ayers and Wright are bullshit guilt by association tactics, but you have to realize they will be used, especially when running against a white 'war hero').

With the polls tanking for McCain, expect these things to start in a heavy way (meaning more than just a few small television markets) soon, and expect things to only get uglier the closer we get to November 4th.

Again, I believe Obama will triumph because he has an excellent ground game, the registration numbers of new voters are much better for Democrats, and the economy is basically an area McCain has no chance of besting Obama on. If this was a normal election like in 2000, I would have a different opinion. This financial crisis is, as bad as it sounds, a very good thing for Obama's election hopes.

But it will be close. If anything, 2004 showed us how powerful fear is, and how excellent the GOP is at using it to manipulate the public. Keep working, keep calling, keep donating, keep volunteering. We have seen how quickly poll numbers can change (just look at the polls 2 weeks ago), and we cannot be complacent.

1. They only thing that will affect Obama now is Nader.
Democrats need to NOT fall for voting for Nader thinking that Obama is an easy win anyway.

3. I've already seen some of this desperation, but
I think that given Obama won the primary and gave an excellent speech on race the first time they tried that, the media and the public may be less interested? But, they'll go for broke I assume? Throwing everything they have at him...

4. "McCain has shown himself to be totally incompetent in this field" but, but he
saved the day by "suspending" his campaign so he could go to d.c. and teach them all he knows about economics. It was a very short meeting.

5. It won't be close.
McSame is a joke of a candidate. The remaining thirty-odd days just give more Americans a chance to discover that. The Palin gambit shored up his support with the base, but the numbers after the Repub convention represent his max. He will never see that level of support again.

Because he is a panicker. Americans hate that kind of behavior. His "suspending my campaign" ploy turned this from a close race into an Obama blowout.

Amongst other reasons.

6. Actually, our 527s are much better funded than theirs
The washington post has a breakdown on it. It's not even close. This election will not be close. Obama will win comfortably and it will be clear early on.

8. I hope all of you disagreeing with me are right. I really do. I guess after 2004 I just really
don't hold the American electorate in general in high regard.

9. Funny you should mention this. Today I kicked a co-worker out
of my office for saying "he's a muslim and that worries me." "I'm a christian" she said before being shoved out.

I was beyond angry at the ignorance.

10. Our candidate is not "half African-American." He is half African, Kenyan to be more precise.

I think he is going to win; but I still fear it will be stolen, as have the last two presidential elections.

13. I predict a landslide for Obama.
Actually, I really predict an all out blowout. I am still working and volunteering and will do it right up to Election Day running a precinct. But, in my heart and mind, it will be a blow out.

14. Well, it SHOULD be a landslide, because right now the campaign is a mudslide!
And its closeness is hard to predict, because this year is so different in so many ways.

15. My Take
Obama will likely win the popular vote by 5 or 6(Similar to Bill Clinton's lead over Bush except Obama can hit 50 Percent) and with a Electoral Landslide over 300 Votes.

Mccain pulling out of Michigan Is a bad sign. And he spending time In Iowa, and Maine shows how
Inept his people are.

17. Remember 2004
Don't relax or assume anything because we know they will employ successful tactics to try to steal it again. Until Obama is officially declared the winner, everyone on his side needs to try their hardest.

18. I've been around for many elections and one thing the
MSM always does is the last couple weeks they report the underdog is gaining momentum. Then a day or two before the election it is always to close to call. They always make it a horse race in the end it's all about ratings. Even if the MSM knows it's going to be a blowout they aren't going to tell you.

ads continuously, for four weeks......

This, too, shall pass.
