I'm starting to think Palin is dumber than W.
And that's really saying something. Last night I was watching a compilation of Palin's "Greatest Hits" (I don't remember if it was KO or Maddow) and I realized that my slack-jawed, squinting, "HUH?" reaction to her responses was very similar to that which I find myself making when I watch W trying to talk. Except in her case I think it was more extreme. W rambles on endlessly and nonsensically, but when he's done talking I can at least understand what line of bullshit it is that he's trying to sell. I cannot say the same for the Governor of Alaska. I literally have no idea what the fuck she's even talking about half the time.

If Fareed Zakaria hadn't ruined it for me by explaining it, I STILL wouldn't know what she was talking about.

2. If you asked her to "Pick a number between 4 and 6" chances are she'd choose 3.
but it would take her 5 minutes to get there.

7. I think she would say
"I know about a lot of numbers, and I think --- you know --- that numbers can really reform the Old Boys Network and ruffle some feathers, when Warren Buffett rears his head --- so again, I would just say that it's a number between 4 and 6."

God this stuff just writes itself.

3. It was on KO
last night.

I walked into the room in the middle and I thought for a brief moment that Jon Stewart was doing a funny clip and then my husband brought me back to reality that it was REAL. God, we are in so much trouble.

13. Ah, yes...
... it was KO. I thought RM did something similar though.

In any case, in summation, Sarah Palin is an idiot.

11. W takes about half the time as Palin
to fumble his way towards some bullshit obfuscation. It takes Palin several minutes to get there, and I'm not even sure she knows what she just said. She also does one thing that W has never done, and that is the 10 seconds of silence. Maybe it's actually only 2 or 3 seconds, but it feels like a miniature eternity, whatever it is.

I never thought I would be able to say that about another politician... much less this soon.

The right is batting a pretty damn good average when it comes to running certifiable idiots for high office.

8. bush does have an MBA from harvard.
i realize that in itself isn't proof of intellect, but it does indicate more basic exposure to ideas than eking out a communications degree from idaho.

12. What took you so long .....
Bush is essentially an intelligent guy .. But he is too casual and doesnt care about many issues ... But I am sure if you shut him up in a room and shove a bunch of things down his throat - he will get it ... He is like a guy with potential -- but is perpetually fooling around.

Palin is Dumb as a rock -- You cant teach her

20. What took me so long is that she's only been on my radar for a month.
I recognized immediately that she was exactly the type of yahoo that the GOP shits out of its assembly line on an ongoing basis, but I thought at first that she was just a bargain-basement yahoo in the mold of George Allen, which is to say just not bright. I also gave her the benefit of the doubt, ever so slightly, on the basis that she was a governor, and I didn't think it was possible to reach that point if you're just completely intellectually bankrupt.

Oh, how wrong I was. That she couldn't even bullshit her way through a total softball interview like the Katie Couric one --- and those WERE total softball questions --- means that she isn't even as smart as the idjits trolling the HuffPo comments section.

15. Oh she is DEFINITELY dumber than W.
W isn't exactly stupid. He's a very shrewd character and I think a lot of the "dumb" stuff is a put on. I'm sure he's a man of moderate intelligence, with an IQ of about 115 or so.

Palin's skull is filled with cotton candy.

16. She's dumber but what about McCain
I think both of them can't touch Bush. I never realize how stupid McCain was. All his "honesty" with the press was really cover for the fact he really didn't understand what he was talking about. He's been exposed as many times as Palin during this campaign.

19. I think it was the Christian Science Monitor which had an article someone posted
Edited on Thu Oct-02-08 11:24 AM by Frustratedlady
which explained she always rambles and never gets to the point. It was posted yesterday.

I think Bush has the same type of problem.

Here is one paragraph from the article (written by someone she debated with).

Palin is a master of the nonanswer. She can turn a 60-second response to a query about her specific solutions to healthcare challenges into a folksy story about how she's met people on the campaign trail who face healthcare challenges. All without uttering a word about her public-policy solutions to healthcare challenges.

I found the link. She is a master at the non-answer:

22. Palin has a fundamental lack of interest in national politics.....
Her interest in Alaska politics seems mostly motivated by ego and desire for power. When she is asked questions and simply can't think of a thing to say, it's because she has literally never thought about the topic. That's my opinion.

Bush comes from a long-time political family. He is, at least, familiar with national political issues. Some fundamental political framework has sunk into his subconscious in spite of himself. He may be an idiot, but he's an experienced idiot. Palin on the other hand, when asked to think nationally, reveals her life-long small town isolation.

23. Keep reminding yourself, "She is considered a GOP rising star"
The GOP are in a really bad area here historically (look at their senate numbers in the current election for instance) and it's going to be very difficult for them over then next, say, 20 years to get any traction. There just isn't anything in the pipeline for them in terms of new blood.

25. Red-headed step-child Adam Putnam will be their candidate in 2012
Book it. He will lose badly to President Obama.

I can't remember who was talking about McCain's potential cabinet, but the claim is true, there is nobody left in the entire GOP to come close to filling his cabinet. He'd have to select lots of Democrats.

Fortunately for the good of the country, that scenario won't come up this year.

27. I don't think she's dumber, but I do think they use the same amount of brain power.
Which is to say, not much at all. I think just about everybody is, more or less, just as "smart" as the next person. But what people do with their brains, how they exercise them, well that's a different story.

Both Bush and Palin give me the impression that they don't like to think much. Really think, deeply and profoundly. They spend most of their time (when not sleeping) just skimming the surface of their brains and not much else. In short, they're air heads, or another way to look at it, intellectually lazy.

29. George Bush has been around national politics his entire life
I've always viewed the Bush family as the Kennedy's of the Republican party... or perhaps the "anti-Kennedy's" if you prefer.

He has spent his entire life around politicians on the national stage. Of course he is more politically aware. Of course he is more savvy on the issues. His oratory skills can be extremely lacking at times and he isn't very "quick minded" when put on the spot in an unrehearsed situation. But at the end of the day, he is definately smarter than Palin when it comes to the game.

I've often misjudged George Bush as an uninformed idiot. But after seeing how bad Sarah Palin is... well let me put it this way. You never realize how smart some people actually are until you realize how dumb other people are.
