One thing that Biden knows well, and Palin doesn't - John McCain

I know that some folks here have a hard time wrapping their heads around relationships that transcend politics, and Senatorial courtesy, but when Biden says that McCain has been a longtime friend, he's not just blowing smoke.

As much as I can't stand Orrin Hatch's politics, he was an important friend of Ted Kennedy on a deeply personal level.

Palin knows booyah about John McCain as a Senator or even as a person. Biden and McCain have been working together in the atmosphere of collegiality that, when it is at its best, is the United States Senate.

So here is what I'd like to see at some point tonight.

I'd like to see Palin offer vacuous praise for John McCain.

And then I'd like to see Biden cite specific examples of genuinely decent, good and honorable things that McCain has fought for. I'd like to see Biden explain that McCain has always had the best of intentions and love of this country. I'd like to have Biden remind us that McCain was an honored guest at his own kid's wedding. I'd like to see Biden recount things that he has worked on together with John McCain.

And then I'd like to see Biden explain that the tragedy of this election is how McCain bargained it all away for a handful of magic beans.

1. NO one will remember the magic beans,
only the praise of McNumbnuts.

They're still saying Joe thinks Hillary would have been a better pick.

The years the two have known each other do make a difference. Since the mooseslayer will have no effing clue about the things her running mate has actually done, Joe could use an example of the 'old' johnny-boy, including a date reference to demonstrate how long ago it was that he actually gave a shit about something other than his own ambition.

But singing the praises of a "genuinely decent, good and honorable" McCain with show-and-tell about 'how we worked together on things' is just assembling an arsenal for his assailants.

7. An arsenal to do what?

That's why I like the McCain "Obama agrees with McCain" attack ad.

What the hell kind of "attack" is it to say that? Anyone who likes "our guy" is an idiot?

8. Only the partisans will jump on that
The undecideds are the ones who would appreciate being respectful to the other side.

9. I think its been an act. His "friendships" with Kerry and Biden probably don't mean much to him
He just uses people to get ahead, so why not use people on the other side of the aisle to pretend you are a maverick? I doubt his sincerity on anything but I bet Joe and John were always good friends to him. Besides, he has Joe Loserman kissing his butt now.

11. Exactly. There are moments where his inner evil streak is obvious and apparent
he usually hides it pretty well...but when it shows, it's some scary sh1t!

12. I hope he does - those ads are tone deaf

Biden started his convention speech by eliciting a round of applause for John McCain.

The Obama campaign is working at a level that the right wing does not understand.

This campaign is not just about the election - it really is to change politics.

14. EXACTAMUNDO!!!
He knows everything there is to know about this man.
Palin knows bumpkiss.

Don't know if I want to see Biden heaping to much praise on McCain, though.
It's an hour and a half to show the American people that Obama is the better choice.
A few kind words is fine, a book of it, not so much.
