McCain reverses course on bailout credit
By Klaus Marre
Posted: 10/02/08 10:29 AM

Republican presidential nominee John McCain on Thursday reversed course and claimed credit for bringing House Republicans back to the negotiating table as Congress worked on a Wall Street bailout.

The Arizona senator told Fox News that he was “very helpful in getting the House Republicans at the table that had not been there,” adding that he is “proud to have played a role in this.”

McCain’s comments stand in contrast with what he said Sunday on ABC’s “This Week with George Stephanopoulos.” At the time, he indicated that it was not his involvement that brought GOP lawmakers to the negotiating table.

“It wasn’t because of me that the Republicans in the House of Representatives got into the negotiating and bargaining, which was vital,” McCain said, adding that the House GOP “did it themselves. And I'm proud of the work that they did.”

In the ABC interview, McCain also said he “won't claim a bit of credit” for his work and stated that “the people up on the Hill deserve great credit that conducted these negotiations.”

5. Someone needs to inform him of the existence of "pesky recordin' devices"
which can capture not only his words, but his grimacing, twitching, flinching, old face.

2. He is a chickenshit who want's to ride both sides of the fence.
he is simultaneously for and against the bailout bill.. which he already voted in favor of.

"God this just makes no sense. McCain says about the bailout he voted for just last night, “This bill is putting us on the brink of economic disaster.” Well that’s as good a reason as any to support it, no? Then he says he voted against Medicare and porks at other times in his life and recently flew into Washington to convince his Republican friends also to vote for this bill that puts our country on the brink of economic disaster while Obama talked on the telephone, wait, WHAT?"

6. No surprise that he copies every idea that Obama proposes.
He changes his mind twice a day on everything. When you have no ideas, it's easier to copy those of you opponent.
