HEH! French press uses Tina Fey pic in Palin article

Truth can sure be stranger than fiction - especially these days.

When I first saw a pic of Sarah Palin, I thought, "omg! It's Tina Fey!" I sure wasn't alone in that.

Now comes an article by Agence France-Presse, a news service analogous to the AP, about the preparations for the VP debate, which is accompanied by this photo:

Thing is, the snafu wasn't only made in my local newspaper. Actually, the article, with the picture attached, was written by Agence France-Presse, a company similar to the Associated Press; this means that the article and the SNL picture was published around the world! Oops! It's one thing for AFP to make the mistake but what about all those newspapers that didn't see the problem with the picture before publishing it? Double oops! I can't wait to see the apology in tomorrow's newspaper!

The English translation of caption under it says that during interviews, Palin is hesitant, troubled and clumsy but didn’t offer more on where the picture was taken and who was on the right.

2. Like I just wrote on the Late Breaking News post of this, TV Squad is wrong...
when it writes "Actually, the article, with the picture attached, was written by Agence France-Presse, a company similar to the Associated Press; this means that the article and the SNL picture was published around the world!"

Photos are not attached to wire stories. Papers pick up the photos separately. They can use their own, or AP's, or AFP's or whatever. So, this is probably the fault of the local paper, not the AFP.

10. And it's in the Canadian press, not the French; and it's a photo by AP, not AFP...
Still funny, though...

3. Just goes to prove that Tina Fey should be running for Veep.
And Palin should be selling tickets to SNL.

4. I don't use any kind of filter in my French press, except the metal mesh screen.
Maybe that article would make for better coffee ;-)

5. "Sarah Palin is a geeeenius ... just like Jerry Lewis." They may give her the Legion of Honor!
"... what? She isn't being funny on purpose? Sacre Bleu!"

6. I think they must be running the SNL skit in France as if it were really Palin
That is what the caption indicates--it starts out by saying "Television interviews with Palin, the Republican candidate for Vice President,...."

They obviously think this is an example of an interview. It makes me think they must be running it on television.

9. Is this going to be like the Movie "Sid and Nancy" ? People have been using photos from that movie..
...with Gary Oldman playing the part of Sid Vicious instead of photos of the real Sid Vicious for 20 years.
