I'm calling out Chuck Todd
Twice now I have heard Chuck Todd claim that neither presidential candidate is talking about jobs/job creation. Bullshit.

As far back as the primaries, I was in attendance at the Memorial Coliseum in Portland OR when gov Richardson endorsed Obama. Obama spoke then about job creation as a part of the plan to get us off of ME oil. Then, and every speech that I have heard him make since then, Obama has included in his policy to get off of oil to renewable, green energy the plan to make (at least) 500,000 new good paying jobs in that field. Obama also discusses the jobs that would be created by investing in other aspects of our infrastructure, something that desperately needs attention and resources.

So Chuck Todd, either you are wildly out of touch and have never heard an Obama speech, or you are a liar. You owe your viewers and readers an apology and a correction of the record.

Okay. Your problem isn't so much a matter of maturity (maybe) but probably more a matter of an understanding of democracy.

Excuse the fuck out of me for demanding that people who are sold to us as journalists tell the freaking truth. Some things are black and white. Barack Obama talks about job retention and creation in every speech. To say he does not speak about jobs is an out and out lie. Any person who is sold to us as a journalist needs to be called out when caught repeatedly telling such an outlandish lie.

25. WHY DO YOU WATCH MORNING JOE?
MSNBC could care less about the TRUTH or FACTS. I just want to know. Why democrats keep watching Morning Joe? After the way they covered the Democratic Convention I said forget them.
Then I checked Media Matters and was shocked to see how biased their coverage was. They are just as bad and even worse than FOX at times. Do any of you have any idea how offensive it is to a person of color when MSNBC gets into the "He's not one of us" talking point or the blue collar vote?
Obama is bi-racial not exotic not different.
In my humble opinion they are worse than FOX because I know what FOX is but they are a FOX IN SHEEP CLOTHING!

32. Didn't mean to yell!
It is just that I use to watch for the same reason. They honestly give me high-blood pressure but if their ratings fall then maybe they will become more balanced. The worse McCain does in the polls the worse MSNBC goes negative on Obama. They make money off advertising. The viewership dictates the pay scale for the commercials. It's like helping them make money to be able to lie and do propaganda. This is just my opinion.
Had no intention of yelling at you, I apologize.

was when he said something like it was a trend that Obama's numbers were rising so now it's going to be about if voters feel comfortable with him as president. WTF is that about? That's what the polls are showing already. Then Tweety repeated it. And I swear I got the feeling what they wanted to say was if the country would vote for a black man, but it was like they were trying to remind everyone that he was black. Like okay, maybe he seems better on economics and was better in the debate, but would you really be "comfortable" with him as president. :grr:

Shame on me, especially since you've brought so much thoughtful insight to this thread.

Can we maybe have some master chart of all media figures and their standing within DU from day to day? Because it gets pretty fucking hard to keep up who we love and hate each day in the media, especially when the same figures swing wildly from pole to pole depending on what they say on any given day. Keeping track of how we feel about Chris Matthews alone is practically a full time job.

60. Getta Load of This One
This falls under the category of "holy sh*t".

I was just forwarded an email from a far-right acquaintance (that he sent out to many people) in which he claimed that he had written Chuck Todd to complain that NBC/MSNBC cherry-picked their polls and only reported the ones that are to Obama's advantage.

This person claims that Chuck Todd wrote him back, and Chuck agreed with him, telling him that he had been fighting to change that at the station, and that NBC & MSNBC do in fact cherry-pick the daily polling data.

I've emailed Chuck to see if that's true. Stay tuned.

63. Why does he always sound like he doesn't know what he's talking about?
Tweety is always going on about how brilliant Chuck Todd is, but I swear nothing he says makes sense. He lost me %100 the other day when he wouldn't believe the Virginia poll. He said there was no way Obama is up by 9 percentage points in Virginia, that he'd never believe that, it must be an outlier. Yet he gave no evidence whatsoever to back up that strong belief. I strongly suspect the vast majority of these so-called pundits are going to look very stupid come November 5th. I can't wait to hear the spin.

66. Because he makes shit up
When ascribing motivation to people's polls, he gets to weave fancy tales of joe sixpack and mary housecoat theater.

71. He claimed that yesterday too
and I sent off an email calling him out on the lie. Then MSNBC covered some of Obama's speech where he was talkinhg about jobs and job creation. We need to INSIST that Chuck Todd recant his statements and tell the truth!
