Florida GOP Meets In Secret As Obama Passes McCain In Polls

Florida Republican leaders hastily convened a top secret meeting this week to grapple with Sen. John McCain's sagging performance in this must-win state.

Their fears were confirmed Wednesday when four new polls showed Sen. Barack Obama leading, a reversal from just a few weeks ago when McCain was opening up an advantage....

One of the concerns has been the relationship between grass roots volunteers across the state and far fewer paid campaign staffers. Complaints range from not getting yard signs quickly enough to knowing who will speak at events and overall manpower coordination....

McCain supporter and former Republican Party of Florida chairman Tom Slade said he's been hearing rumblings over the past few weeks that the campaign is not fully utilizing volunteers, though he said that was not the case in Jacksonville.

"I get the sense that on the statewide basis, the grass roots Republicans don't quite feel like they have a natural fit within the McCain organization," Slade said....

1. Yes, it is those damn signs. Get a few more signs and McCain will surge in the polls.
No realization that they have a deeply flawed set of candidates! Would love to have been a fly on the wall at that meeting!

:nopity: :nopity:

2. Oh, dear!
It must be hard for them to try to think up ways to increase support for McCain-Palin.

6. The Republican Party has never been about the people...
hence why they have no clue how to "utilize volunteers".

7. I am seeing LOTS of "McCain/Palin" yard signs going up in Volusia County
and very very few "Obama/Biden" signs.

Lets spend some money down here!!!! Get those signs out.

9. Good luck getting yard signs
Obama doesn't care about yard signs. We had to raise money and buy our own and we are in a swing district in PA.

20. Go here:
http://www.barackobama.com/downloads/

and download posters and/or signs.

For a very small amount your local Kinkos can print it out on cardstock-- for a little more, they can print it on corrugated plastic. Add two posts and voila!

Or buy an unofficial, but still professional looking one at CafePress:

A handmade sign on posterboard is also great. Really even better than an fancy one b/c it shows you took the time to make it yourself! :)

22. I'm not complaining its a fact
The campaign has very little emphasis on yard signs. They'd rather invest the money in staff. I actually agree with them.

12. Guess they'll have to bribe some, like with the "spontaneous" protesting frat boys.
Free lunch and your faces on the TeeVee for the "spontaneous protests" -- what would they give their "grassroots groundswell" troops?
