McCrypt "Chilly" To Obama On Senate Floor, "Tried Not To Look At Him"
McCain "Chilly" To Obama On Senate Floor, "Tried Not To Look At Him"
The Huffington Post | October 2, 2008 07:34 AM

Barack Obama and John McCain were back in the Senate on Wednesday for the bailout legislation and the "political tension was clear," the New York Times reports. "Obama walked to the Republican side of the aisle to greet Senator John McCain, who offered a chilly look and a brief return handshake."

CQ has details:

Let the record reflect that Barack Obama made the approach to John McCain tonight.

As the two shared the Senate floor tonight for the first time since they won their party nominations, Obama stood chatting with Democrats on his side of the aisle, and McCain stood on the Republican side of the aisle.

So Obama crossed over into enemy territory.

He walked over to where McCain was chatting with Republican Sen. Mel Martinez of Florida and Independent Sen. Joseph I. Lieberman of Connecticut. And he stretched out his arm and offered his hand to McCain.

McCain shook it, but with a "go away" look that no one could miss. He tried his best not to even look at Obama.

Finally, with a tight smile, McCain managed a greeting: "Good to see you."

Obama got the message. He shook hands with Martinez and Lieberman -- both of whom greeted him more warmly -- and quickly beat a retreat back to the Democratic side.

I love that man.

Still, I hope he washed his hands after touching Joe Lieberman.

2. Why can't he just suck it up and be big about it?
The fact that he can't is a gigantic red flag.

4. Senator Obama is a true statesman.
He is diplomatic and gracious. Mcsame is a mean old man who has a napoleon complex.

8. it is a once in a lifetime when we see someone like Obama
who drips of Presidential material. Confident, Cool and Calm and INTELLIGENT. Very social. We cannot blow this election, but election purging is going on beware.

5. I would *love* to see this on video.
To see the look on McNasty's face when he realized Obama was headed his way would be priceless.

McNasty is a total weenie.

6. Not surprising. Remember the debate?
McCain couldn't and wouldn't look at Obama after being asked to do so several times by Jim Lehrer. I think Lehrer finally gave up and realized that McCain wouldn't do it.

Such a petty, arrogant, and classless fool. Damn shame that someone of his age has to live in their twilight years being such a pathetic waste of skin.

7. I'll tell you why McCain can't look Obama in the eye
and it's more than being beat like a circus donkey..

When they pulled that fake Bush meeting, inviting Obama almost as an afterthought, I watched the camera work in that room.. at first the camera panned Bush and dem leaders, then over to McSame, who was looking like a Hyena, very strange demeamor..

Later I saw that Obama was at the other end of the table, and they panned past him pretty fast.

BUT even Later I saw a camera shot of Obama, from a different angle, and he was Looking DIRECTLY AT MCCAIN, and man oh man, he was giving him the GAME FACE, the Fierce Face I've seen him exhibit now and then.. even told my wife, "I don't Ever want to be on the receiving end of the face Obama makes when he's Not Happy.. it's going to Wasted some leaders trying to get over on him..."

And I mean FIERCE. McCain was SCARED by Obama just Looking at him, like "What the hell is THIS Bullshit, old man?"

It was very cool, I love that guy :)

10. Yes indeed. He used that face during the debates
When Obama looked at McCain (well, the side of his face, since he wouldn't reciprocate) and said "you were wrong on Iraq, you were wrong on - " that look was on display. There were several other times that they would show a side profile shot of McCain and you could see Obama looking right at him with a look best described as "hostile statesmanship". Pretty obvious that McCain can't look at him - he can't be faced with someone that is calling him on his bullshit.

12. I love the fact that he uses it appropriatly
as opposed to McSame who tries to hide it his rage, to smile instead and ends up with a trollish looking evil sneer :)

11. Is Lieberman acting as McCain's chaperone?
He's always with him.

13. Not a chaperone, more like his designated Dildo
Lieberman has to know that his ship is sinking fast. Expect Joe to fuck McCain and run crying back to the Democrats very soon, attempting to salvage what little good will is left. Sadly enough, Harry Reed will probably fall for it.

15. There was an interesting comment after the article about how McCain
has literally and figuratively embraced George Bush since 2000 despite the fact that Bush ran a despicable smear campaign against McCain and his family. And yet in recent years, we see McCain campaigning with Bush, hugging him, etc.

Contrast how he treats Obama with outright contempt, refusing to extend even basic common courtesy to Obama. It seems like there is a rage in McCain always burning just below the surface every time he is face to face with Obama.
