Wow! What a change in one day - electoral-vote.com
Edited on Thu Oct-02-08 05:28 AM by terrya
Yesterday, Obama was at 286 electoral votes. Today it's 338. In one day????

It had to be the cumulative effect of last week's debate and the whole bailout situation. It does indeed look like it's breaking away for Obama. :-)

2. Think they are going by the latest poll only
Edited on Thu Oct-02-08 05:39 AM by dbmk
So the shift kan be dramatic on that page. The prediction at 538.com is a lot less prone to major shifts like that - but still looking good atm. :)

4. True, however
538 has nearly the same count:

5. You can't discount the effects of the continual onslaught of the Palin/Couric clips ...
... and the coverage they're getting in all media, and the overflow into the late night comedy shows. The Gibson interview was bad enough, but these Couric clips are simply astounding.

8. I'm beginning to think there is such a thing as bad publicity.
That's gotta be hurting, and CBS is happy to let the clips out since it gives Couric some cred. I would never even think of watching the CBS News with Couric--yet I've seen planty of that train wreck interview on MSNBC.

I know why CBS is releasing it in little bites, but I think it benefits the Obama campign that they do as well. It's unavoidable and the damage is sustained.

9. Hilarious. That's *exactly* what I was thinking as I hit 'Post' earlier.
This must be the exception that proves the "no such thing as bad publicity" rule!

And I agree with your point of "damage over time", to reference WoW; these video clips being released over several days is SOOOOO much more damaging than what might have happened had they all been part of one interview show. Each stupendous gaffe is getting its own daily news cycle coverage, as opposed to all of them competing for a single cycle.

And what if that single interview show had been broadcast on a Friday? The coverage might have been nil. Thanks, CBS.

7. Check out 'this day in 2004'
Obama is not only doing better than Kerry was then, but better than Bush was as well. If he can keep up this momentum, this election might not even be close!
