Far Out? Palin Steps Down & McCain Becomes Physically Disabled/Dies -- New Repub Ticket!
Edited on Thu Oct-02-08 01:24 AM by Blackhatjack
Palin's favorability numbers are dropping like a rock, and the Troopergate Scandal will yield even more damaging information between now and election day. Given the disasterous interviews she has given so far, and the abandonment by Conservative Repub Pundits, it is not beyond all likelihood that she could 'voluntarily' step down as the VP running mate.

Couple that with McCain, at age 72, a previous torture victim, and cancer patient, who could suffer a physical impairment(ie. stroke, heart attack) at any time which would make it impossible for him to fulfill the his duties as President of the United States, if elected.

So with slightly more than 30 days until election day it is possible that the Republican Party could have an entirely different President/Vice President ticket on the ballot.

It would be unprecedented --and it would be one scary situation.

I nominate LAWN DARTS, so we can still have that spike-through-the-head feeling that Sarah Palin brings on when she speaks.

13. Try Rudy/Lieberman ... (that send a cold chill down your spine?) ...
Mr. 9/11 and Independent Joe, together for this one-time engagement!

Rudy would tout his executive experience and his terr-ist fighting experience, and Joe would claim he is really a Democrat creating a 'bipartisan' ticket.

Of course Mittens is going to be doubly upset since he spent the more of his personal $$ than any other candidate and he still can't get on the ticket!

14. Wouldn't matter anyway. McLame & Palin have destroyed the creditability
of the GOP this time around.
They'll have to wait till 2012.
They could try stealing this one, also, but not without anarchy from the masses.

They haven't a prayer. Even with a new duo.
Its too late baby.

16. They've already got their "A Team".
This is what they got overall. All the rest of their people appeal to narrow groups of people only. They tried to engage the POW shield and lame folk tales to sell some characters to run away from their own policies while "repackaging" and escalating the same tired bullshit and lies.

A lot of criminals have interesting yarns to spin but its best to keep track of your wallet, your eyes on the door, and keep your back to the wall.

Bring them down!

19. THis is a step by step analysis of what happens if the Party Nominee Dies ...LINK
Clearly this is the answer: "If John McCain were to die before the election, the rules of the Republican Party authorize the Republican National Committee to fill the vacancy, either by reconvening a national convention or by having RNC state representatives vote."

http://www.slate.com/id/2201173/

Dead by Election Day
What happens if a presidential candidate passes away at the last second?
By Nina Shen Rastogi

"Vice-presidential candidates Sarah Palin and Joe Biden will face off in their first and only debate this Thursday in St. Louis, Mo. Quite a few Explainer readers have asked what would happen if one of the presidential candidates were to die or become otherwise incapacitated before Election Day: Would Palin or Biden assume the nomination?

Not necessarily. Each party has its own protocol for this scenario, but in neither case does the running mate automatically take over the ticket. If John McCain were to die before the election, the rules of the Republican Party authorize the Republican National Committee to fill the vacancy, either by reconvening a national convention or by having RNC state representatives vote. The new nominee must receive a majority vote to officially become the party candidate. If Barack Obama were to die before the election, the Democratic Party's charter and bylaws state that responsibility for filling that vacancy would fall to the Democratic National Committee, but the rules do not specify how exactly the DNC would go about doing that. (Congress could also pass a special statute and push back Election Day, giving the dead candidate's party time to regroup.)

What happens if the party doesn't have time to select and endorse a new candidate? In 2000, Akhil Reed Amar outlined for Slate some of the head-scratching scenarios that might occur if a candidate died just before the election, without enough time to prep new ballots or to decide how votes should be counted."

21. They don't want to win this election. That's why they let McAsshole be their sacrificial lamb.
W and his cadre of corruption have put this country in such dire straights that they don't want the responsibility of fixing everything they broke, and they know the public is demanding change. They didn't want to sacrifice one of their up-and-comers who have a legitimate chance to win in the future by saddling him with a defeat by Obama. So they let McShit-for-brains get the nomination to get his sorry ass out of the way and not have to have someone else humiliated. Then, they can work against Obama for the next 4 years so he's hindered trying to fix the shit-hole they left us with, and then blame it all on him in 2012. I'm thoroughly convinced that McNasty is just their patsy this year and that's why they let him choose Palin, because they didn't want to damage a real candidate of the future.

28. People are already voting! Would you all stop this "Palin will be off the ticket" mess??
If Palin drops out, what will happen to the thousands of votes that have already been recorded??

I got my absentee ballot today and her name as well as John Mc's are on the ballot. And I seriously doubt that will change.

29. It is now TOO LATE. They are STUCK with McCain/Palin
You cannot remove Palin now. Too late. The ballot is set.

If McCain should die or be unable to proceed, Palin takes over the top of the ticket.

End of story.

There's no way the ballots can be changed at this point.

It will be McCain/Palin through 11/4.

but on the other hand, I bet there are county GOP organizers who would brighten at the prospect.
