In Case you were wondering about SCOTUS Opinions/Decisions...
you know I had a hard time thinking about past decisions from the SCOTUS when Katie asked Psycho-Sarah; except when they appointed the belt-buckle head presently in the White House.

So for future reference click on the links and put them in your favorites. I especially like the "by topic" list.

1. Thanks for the links!
I could name a few but I was drawing on a class in business law I took a decade ago. Palin really should have been able to come up with one or two on her own.

2. I was rather shocked
that she couldn't even remember this year's horrible Exxon v. Baker decision, which virtually wiped out the punitive damages award in the EXXON VALDEZ case that so many fishermen and Native villages here have been waiting for. That was so recent, and I know she spoke out about it. Didn't she realize that was the Supreme Court??

7. I've been saying that for days now, ever since I heard she couldn't
give the name to another SCOTUS case.

I can imagine some folks in Alaska watching that interview and screaming EXXON v. BAKER.

She has been indoctrinated, she is a stepford candidate and she has no mind of her own. They have feed her all of the McCain "safe" talking points and she has crammed them in her brain and all other info is no longer accessible. She can't think on her feet, she can't think for herself and she thinks she is ready to lead. She is an example of someone that has been led down the road to nowhere.

5. Bush v. Gore, how could Palin not remember the decision that appointed Bush President?
Brown v. Board of Education? How many Blacks in Alaska?

Dred Scott, the most outrageous decision in history:

Taney -- a staunch supporter of slavery and intent on protecting southerners from northern aggression -- wrote in the Court's majority opinion that, because Scott was black, he was not a citizen and therefore had no right to sue. The framers of the Constitution, he wrote, believed that blacks "had no rights which the white man was bound to respect; and that the negro might justly and lawfully be reduced to slavery for his benefit. He was bought and sold and treated as an ordinary article of merchandise and traffic, whenever profit could be made by it."

Don't have to be a political scientist to know about those three decisions (with apologies to Marbury v. Madison).

6. She should have answered the case that affected Alaskans
Edited on Wed Oct-01-08 10:39 PM by merh
The opinion was handed down in the end of June this year and SCOTUS cut the jury verdict awarded the plaintiffs (Alaskan citizens) in the infamous Valdez oil spill case. The case was Exxon v. Baker

COURIC:What other Supreme Court decisions do you disagree with?
COURIC: Can you think of any?

Palin should have have answered:

Exxon v. Baker the case about the Valdez oil spill. If you remember that was a major disaster for Alaskas coastline, our wildlife or fishing industry. I believe that the jury had rendered its verdict and the Plaintiffs, citizens of Alaska, were entitled to that verdict. I'm against the Courts interfering with jury verdicts when damages have been proven and the damages were well documented. I don't agree with activist judges.

See my journal entry from the other night.

8. Yes, that's exactly what she should have said, Merh.

That decision was a slap in the face to all Alaskans, and it's just inconceivable that it didn't pop into her empty head.

9. It is amazing - it is because she is focusing on talking points
and afraid to slip up - all of her "executive experience" is lost amongst the McCain talking points. I'd venture to guess her career is over.
