1. Nice! Tomorrow's Widget won't be pessimistic :)
Texas is down to a 9-point lead for McCain as well (Rasmussen). It was McCain +17 before.

That pollster graph is mesmerizing, mmmmm!

:hi:

7. Texans are in one last push to register even more new voters
Edited on Wed Oct-01-08 11:10 PM by rainbow4321
before Oct 6th. Voters that sure as heck won't be in any poll now/yet.

Just within 25 miles of my Dallas surburban zip (I picked a radius number high enough to include Dallas) the drives have every inch of the area covered. EVERY transit station, the huge rival football game at the State Fair this weekend, the party scene in Dallas one night this weekend, courthouses, and every other high traffic site event/area that you can think of.
Texans won't be able to turn a corner without running into a volunteer deputy registrar asking them if they are registered to vote yet.
I signed up with 25 other people to register people all day Saturday at our city's International Festival. It includes the swearing in of new citizens and other festivities/parade, etc.
And this is just a tiny area on a huge TX map that no doubt has just as much activity statewide!

17. Rainbow, thank you for the work you have been doing!
I am the web admin/designer for Tarrantobama.org, right next door to you.

In our county alone, there are 90,000 new DEM voters registered this year - 40,000 since the March primary!

And an anecdote:
Our recent debate watch party had several local candidates, including Rick Noriega, who is running for Senate against John Cornyn. It was predicted to have maybe 300 people, but 800 showed up.
We had invited press, and one reporter from the Fort Worth Starr-Telegram decided for some reason to go to the local McCain watch party instead.

There were 10 people at the McCain event. Ten... people...
Oops. no scoop for you.

Tomorrow's debate party in Arlington entertainment complex should be big - 7 big screens and a huge crowd is expected. check out our site for details, maybe you should come!

Again, thanks for the work you are doing. We are encouraging folks to vote straight dem, to get some real change in Congress.
Never underestimate the importance of your input - it all adds up!

22. Hey, neighbor!!!
Edited on Thu Oct-02-08 06:57 PM by rainbow4321
Congrats to YOU all for everything you have done in Tarrant County!!!!
Your county has come a LONG way because of everything you all have done.

Screw the media people....probably best the TX Dem turnout/registration stay beneath their radar..they would just purposely find a way to screw it up between now and Nov 4th.

Have you seen Burnt Orange's stats on Travis County--only the darkest BLUE spot in TX!!!

http://www.burntorangereport.com/showDiary.do;jsessionid=FD74E4F558BF72C88FF22A234C951E4D?diaryId=6964

Travis County election officials are projecting that upwards of 440,000 people will vote in the election, or about 75% turnout. That would be an increase from the 355,000 people who cast ballots in 2004 which resulted in a 65% turnout for the presidential race.
In order to cope with the increased demand on the elections process, they are opening two additional "Mega-Vote" sites for the Early Vote period which runs from Oct 20th - Oct 31st.

Austin American-Statesman: One site will be at the West Tower Village shopping center on West Gate Boulevard in South Austin. The other will be at 5335 Airport Blvd., next to the Travis County clerk's office in the old Chair King building. The mega sites should have 35 to 50 voting machines each, County Clerk Dana DeBeauvoir said.
I hope they are ready for the Early Vote at the University of Texas. In the 2004 election, they had to truck in 10 additional voting booths because of the turnout surge after the first day.

-----------
My daughter goes to UT Austin so I have kept an eye on the UT campus news over the last 4 years, especially for the 2004 election. During the 2004 election more students were IN LINE to vote on a SINGLE day than voted in the entire Nov 2000 general election for prez!!! I cannot imagine what will happen on campus THIS time around!

I'm off to go to one of the debate watching parties here in Collin County tonight...around 190 people have signed up (as of this morning). We will be at the same sports bar we were at for the first prez debate..the owner had scheduled extra workers that night to handle our crowd. They did an awesome job considering the number of people that night so needless to say, back we all go!

3. The Phalin Palin Team is suffering from Collapse Disorder Syndrome
Palin and her running mate McCaine(the guy with the ball bearings) are getting killed in the polls.

I had suggested McCain make himself look good by conceding the race and joining Obama in a quest for National Unity...Instead, he went with Sarah and gambled ALL IN

Now its too Late.....he will wither on the vine and shrivel as he well should...all losers end up shriveling

8. in a moment of insanity I clicked thru to Hannity and Colmes

Hannity was asking Rove if Obama's recent drop in the polls was the result of his mishandling the Liquidity crises.

Rove was temporarily dumbfounded. lol

there was earth shattering news from Scotty.

Obama jumped 5 points in Mississippi

John McCain now leads Barack Obama 52% to 44% in Mississippi, according to a new Rasmussen Reports telephone survey in the state. In August, McCain was ahead 54% to 41%.

But the race was even closer in May and June, when McCain led by six.

Mississippi has cast its six Electoral College votes for the Republican candidate in the last seven consecutive presidential elections. In 2004, President Bush easily won the state by a 59% to 40% margin.

ARG also showed that pre debate McCain was up 16 points before the debate. Kos showed 13.

Something very very big is happening and it is being confirmed in too many polls in too many places. If the VP debates can even move another 2 points then even places like Mississippi will become swing states.

Too many states in too many places by completely different pollsters

Other state polls from today can be seen here

:toast: We are collectively feeling it.

I think that's why McCain has seemed so cranky lately.

He feels it, too.
