Do you think we should eliminate new DU sign-ups until after the election?

McCain's camp is encouraging trolls to invade our ranks. Some disruptive activity has happened already. How do you feel about temporarily stopping new sign-ups?

12. No.My 4 yr anniversary is in 2 wks, found DU right before last pres election.

It really helped me focus, helped me GOTV and call people for the first time since I was a young thang. Don't eliminate new sign ups since I am sure there are people like me out there who would be very glad to be able to post here. Yes, there are disruptors, which is why we have moderators who hav quite a job ahead of them this last month.

14. No we need the new democrats on this site. Think what an opportunity it is

to get somebody excited by this election to permanently be engaged in politics and learning more about the world. DU can do that for the newly excited DUers. We can handle the trolls. They don't last long at all and it wastes lots of GOP time signing up here and pretending to be one of us.

More and more people are coming over to Obama's side, and we should keep this forum open to any who have recently seen the light (or have just discovered this place).

Why should we fear freepers or Republican operatives sneaking one or two posts on the forums? I mean, will Obama go down in the polls in crucial battleground states because Hot4MooseHunter posted in the DU Lounge?
