A sampling of comments from Free Republic, for your viewing pleasure
"I switched from Barr when Palin was selected. But it looks like McCain and Republican leadership is going along with this atrocity. If so I know where my vote is going back to."

"Whatever. I am NOT voting for a President that will support this atrocity. Not going to do it. If McCain votes for it he has done it to himself. He can avoid it by doing the right thing."

"% chance McCain grows a spine and votes no?"

"I’m with you. I don’t even know if Barr (who I really don’t care for) is on my ballot or not but I will not vote for McCain, as much as I love Gov. Palin. Hopefully she’s run in 2012 and I can vote for her then. I am beyond disgusted!"

"With you on that one. McCain will have caused the implosion of his campaign, not me."

"At this point I am not sure there is a difference between McCain and Nobama. D and R mean nothing any more."

Of course, most of them will probably eventually forgive McCain and vote for him. After all, we forgave Obama for FISA, didn't we? But still, it's kind of fun watching them freak out.

Speaking of which, kudos to DU for standing behind Obama even if we don't love the bill. That's why we're going to win this thing!

1. I think that really they think McCain is sinking and his vote is
a good excuse to jump ship and act like "eh, I never really liked him"

3. This may be the first election in a long time the Dem base doesn't eat its own!
Republicans have always been able to put party over personal feelings, thus guaranteeing their base would turn out.

Democrats, though, always had to complain and maybe sat home on election day.

Not. This. Time!

12. Of course they do.
Most of either want to "do" her or be like her.

They're thinking with the wrong brain.

6. I never blamed Obama for FISA because he spoke to us and explained himself.
As for those idiots...I like this implosion.

8. I appreciated that
I was upset about his vote but respect and appreciate that he at least took the time to acknowledge our disappointment and address it. I like that he encouraged us to continue to hold him accountable. So I forgave him, although I still think he made a mistake.

11. Thats the difference....having someone smart in office...he
explained why he was voting the way he was and why he thought it was important to act. McCain is not on Obama's level. His base isn't either for that matter...those people are not really bright.

13. Here's a few more
"Voting for a socialist like McCain will be a disaster."

"Score 1 presidency for Obama!"

"I am sick that our candidate will not strike back at the evil and malicious lies that are being stated by MSM and his opponents......this nice crap is losing him the election and I hate to say it, but maybe he should."

"It appears that a vote for Sen. McCain is a vote for Obama and his ACORN thugs.
McCain may have just thrown this election away. Is that him between Dodd and Barney?"

My personal favorite: "For a while I thought McCain might actually save us from Obama, no more. Not even sure how much difference it would make anyway. A dime's worth I guess. If I were Gov. Palin, I'd respectfully get off this Titanic and swim back to Alaska."
