Pointless post, I'm sorry.....but this Obama fella is electrifying....
I'm just an outsider looking in, I've no vote, just an exile with some American blood. But it's been such a joyful education these past few weeks reading this board, the passion you all have for this cause is inspiring, with every beat of my heart I pray....even though I'm not a whole lot religious....Obama will be elected president, especially for you all, but also for the rest of the world - because I truly believe he will make a profound difference.

You are blessed to have a fella like him, in my corner of the world our leaders are utterly, utterly uninspiring. I watch and listen to every Obama speech in awe, he is extraordinary, he has everything - intellect, charm, warmth, compassion, humanity, strength, everything you could ever dream of in a leader.

I've loved reading all your thoughts, I understand better than ever now how much this election means to America, it is intensely important, and if Obama prevails the outcome will, literally, change the world.

Ah hell, I'm just feelin' emotional tonight, the fella fills me with hope, just when I'd given up!

Any way, this lonely outsider-looking-in voice prays for you all, my heart's with you in the month ahead, may your dreams be fulfilled. God's speed, Barack Obama....

May the road rise up to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back.....

It's been since the '60s, really.

5. Dublin, Ireland....
....we have a few obnoxious right wing columnists supporting McCain, but 99% of the media is pro-Obama....and I've yet to meet a fellow Irish citizen who isn't intensely impressed by Obama. Our hearts are with you!

10. Oh boy, I've...
....noticed that SO much. As others have said, so many corners of the world WANT to fall in love with America again, having fallen catastrophically OUT of love in the Bush years. Obama's already rekindling the affair, just look at the reception he got in Berlin!

11. Nice post. I have the same hopes as you that Obama will change the world for the better
Just by virtue of him preferring diplomacy to war, the world will start being a better place the minute he is elected. Obama will bring an end to cowboy diplomacy practiced by warmongering Bush.

12. They dont call him the leader of the free world for nuthin.....
.... we will TOTALLY share him ...... there's enough of the Barack to go around!

And the PRIMARY reason I am voting for him is because of his cosmopolitan view of the world ....... he understands that while America is the GREATEST country (with Ireland a close second of course) we are not the ONLY country. And maybe .... just maybe ..... if we'd quit acting like the school yard bully, other countries would be less likely to .... ya know ...... steal some planes and try to attack us with them. Just a thought.

He actually wasn't my first choice. Kucinich was, and to be truthful, Kucinich's politics are closer to my own. However, I feel that Obama is probably the most inspiring leader America has seen since the 1960's. For those of us who wished we could have experienced RFK, JFK and MLK, he is a dream come true, really. I came to support him slowly, but I had been watching how he ran his campaign for awhile, skeptical, because I couldn't believe he was the real deal. It's not hard to be cynical after 8 years of Bush/Cheney. Well, he IS the real deal.

18. I think he's made us all emotional! Thanks for your post...
one of the reasons I've been so involved in the presidential race more so than any other time in my life is because I'm so embarrassed by my beloved country's standing in the world. I truly believe that a President Obama restores our credibility almost immediately and that his future actions will move us back to that "beacon of hope" that we once were.

21. I wondered where you were until the last lines
I am American born with mostly Irish blood I am proud to say. The good thing about Obama is that if he wins he's for everybody. You get to live in the world with him as the US President so it affects you too. You sound sad that it isn't your victory, your life affected but we are all connected in so many ways. Environmental causes, diplomacy instead of wars, the economy and just a complete respect for the brotherhood of man. If he wins it belongs to you too. So celebrate with us- you are one of us!

22. We Are All Connetced.
A wonderful post, Jackeens.

Thank you for your very eloquent post. You sum up what many feel around our planet. We are all so overdue for some leadership and inspiration. A hope that this will come to fruition in November, indeed! Having lived in another country gains me valued perspective and reflection. I trust Obama's message is real and it will start to rebuild bridges broken by these last eight years. I still love my oountry and her people (and sometimes, her institutions) and have faith these wonderful citizens will continue to make a differene, connect with eachother and others worldwide.

DU has been a lifeline and my homepage for years, with posts like yours bringing meaning to it all.

I'm a bit homesick this day. I did however just receive my ballot, so, if OK with you, I will vote for US... and my Irish forebearers who too, made it real.

Cheers, Jackeens.

And bring a bit of heaven here to earth (and DU)"

How 'bout we declare you an Honorary American - we're "adopting" you for the election? It's so nice of you to pray for our hopes, seeing how much it means to us, and that you also feel, and see, and know why. Your post feels like a "link across the sea", in spirit. :) My prayers and hopes for you too for your compassion and empathy for us, that a little of (hopefully) President Obama will rub off in your part of the world, and that some of the good things he inspires will stick with you, from caring to follow along with us, the progress of this election and the chance for a new direction.
