Since 2000, I have been anticipating that as a certain January 20 was approaching, that I would be leaping and scampering and twirling and dancing in delirious joy to the tune of the 4th Movement of Beethoven's 7th that the Dark Age had passed. But here I am, more grave and apprehensive about the future than ever.

I hope that the October Surprise is that my pessimism is dispelled, and that I will be dancing in Times Square with you the night before the morning when we wake up to start rebuilding American together again.
