Just spoke with the US Attorney General's office. If you have a complaint about a voting rights
violation, they want to hear from you.

(202) 307 2767

They want to know details about specific jurisdictions so they can send representatives to monitor activities on voting day.

You will be transferred to an attorney based on your state.
The guy I spoke with was very receptive, I asked him what proactive measures they were taking to protect voters in the upcoming election, which he went over with me.

Then I encouraged him to look into the Brennan Center report, "Voter Purges." He said he would ask around about it.

Overall, the office was very accomodating, and said they were glad I called.

Please pass around that number if you know of specific problems in your state.

Thanks!

1. Update--left a message with my secretary of state's press secretary's secretary. (awesome title)
I am waiting to hear back from him. The reason for my call was....

'In light of the newly released report, "Voter Purges," what is the SOS doing to protect voter registration status and voter rights for the upcoming election?'

Love,

an increasingly cuddly voter!

2. Can they get permission for access to the source codes so we can know if the machines are rigged?
The answer is no, because the corporations who manufacture the machines won't allow it- so they can send all the folks they want to watch the voting and monitor the polls and it's worthless if we cannot check to see if the machines are tampered with. Sad but true.

3. If you are concerned this is a problem in your state, try to contact your Secretary of State.
Or do nothing.
Whatever.

5. This is a problem in EVERY STATE which votes electronically
and contacting our Secretary of State is not going to help in a red state, unfortunately. They are a big reason we are in the mess we are in. Please PM me if you would like some info on how electronic voting machines have been rigged for the past 7 years and what is going on now with getting this out in the open. Better yet, visit www.bradblog.com.

4. I forgot to mention--they said they monitor blogs for leads on violations.
