After doing further reading and listening carefully to the House Democratic press briefing yesterday, I had to admit to myself that Paulson and Bernanke had, 1) unduly rushed me into a decision and 2) not provided the nation or the Congress with more choices than the $700 billion blank check approach, which, thank God, the Congress hammered into something more palatable.
I don't wish to argue with anyone here, which is my usual choice. I simply think it might help heal things a bit here if others could admit the same at least to yourself or at least take a hard look at the House Democratic media briefing:

on edit: I was FOR the original bailout bill that failed. I'm more in favor of something that Representative DeFazio or Rep. Kaptor can hammer out with the Republicans.
