Let's get one thing straight here: Fundy Christian Extremists will never abandon Palin
The neo-cons might and the fiscal conservatives might but to the fundamentalists, she is the glue that is holding them on to the McCain campaign. This is also why George H.W. Bush did not dump Dan Quayle in 1992. Bush was never loved by the fundy Christian Right, but Quayle was, and Bush had to keep him.

It is becoming clear that Palin is, well, stupider than George W. Bush. But again, this will not hurt her with evangelical Christian fundamentalists. Why? Because they do not value education and knowledge. Being intelligent is just not on their radar screen. It's not one of their "family values". Their world view revolves around planning for the afterlife and the Rapture. Making a better life here and now for the living on planet Earth is not much of a priority for them. The use of hard science to improve quality of life, health and the natural environment is frowned upon. History is only useful if it furthers their view of a Christian perspective of the world. Same with the arts, which are also viewed by these folks with suspicion or outright contempt. Literature that does not fit into their narrow world view is either useless or an agent of moral corruption. Same with dancing or music.

8. It's NOT 2%.
Stop kidding yourselves.

Sometimes I really believe that it is our stubborn refusal to acknowledge this significant part of the voting population that kicks us in the nuts every 4 years.

15. Somewhere around 25% of the electorate is Fundymentalpatient
I've met some of them. They are batshit crazy and absolutely immune to logic or reason. It's a big slice of the country. What's with us this time is that the folks in the middle are getting stomped in to the ground, economically, and are just conscious enough to realize that Repukes have been in control for the last eight years. Any change is good change for these people. BHO represents at least a promise of positive change to them and they will break for him.

6. Fundies aren't going in any rapture
Why do non-Christians think God has a soft spot for hatemongering idiots?

They have twisted Christianity into damn near the polar opposite of following Christ.

9. You think so... but they don't.
It's all a matter of opinion.

That's why religious "fervor" can be so frighteningly powerful.

11. I have a fundie sister in law who prayed that a hail storm would
stop long enough for her to get into WalMart and "blessed jesus" (she said) "it did!" And she loves Sarah. Imagine that.

14. Ah, the God of Trivial Things...

It's good to know that the creator of the universe didn't want her hit with a hailstone in the Wal-Mart parking lot though, ain't it?

12. No they will not...
The "snake handler" wing of the Republican Party thinks it's part of God's Plan (tm) that Palin was placed on the ticket. They're HOPING McCain will be elected -- and then die -- so that world can see what a REAL Christian will do in the White House.

The fact that she dumber than a sack of hammers means nothing to them, mostly because she's their intellectual equal.
