Question: When did Dennis Miller turn into such an asshole?
Wasn't he a bit more liberal 10-15 years ago? I know he thinks himself a Libertarian, but I didn't think he shared any of the GOPs social views. I've been suprised to hear him so in love with Sarah Palin. I thought he'd be the type of conservative that she'd really scare off.

11. He used 9-11
as an excuse to become a vile neo-conservative.

His popularity was fading and, with repubs in charge of congress and the White House, Miller probably thought that he would get on the side that was winning.

Problem is, regardless of his politics, people were just plain tired of his smug bullshit.

22. That could be.
I remember he came out bashing Clinton during the whole Ken Starr drama. However, I remember him sitting on Arsenio's couch in 92 saying "I think we need to go with Clinton." when asked who he was voting for.

Somewhere in there he lost his mind.

21. Actually....
I noticed a change after 9/11. Everyone (Stewart, Letterman, etc.) was shocked and saddened, so they went easy on Bush even being supportive and kind to him. They eventually came back to the real world, except Dennis. He never made it back. I don't know, maybe the shock of it caused brain damage.

Edited on Tue Sep-30-08 03:15 PM by wlucinda
I remember him going a little nutty about how cool junior looked in his flight suit that day. :eyes: After that, he really jumped on the bandwagon and never had the cojones to say he'd been fooled. So he's just stuck with it, becoming more strident as time passes.

Very sad.

27. It was 9/11 but the sad thing is he refuses to admit he was wrong
about Iraq, the War on Terror, all of it. Lots of people who supported the war have since regretted it but not Miller. Like Bush, he thinks that if he's stubborn long enough, eventually he'll be proven right.

54. I think it was caused by his agent and his accountant.
His agent told him he had no job and his accountant told him he had no money. I'm sure he was always a right wing jerk but he became the "right wing comic" in order to feed himself.

40. He's been a jerk for at least the past 10 years.
My hunch is that it started happening when he was working on Monday Night Football with Al Michaels, who is very conservative. Spending all that time together gave Miller some bad ideas that he's since run with.

does he still attempt to do comedy? I use to see him on the Tonight Show once in a while but I haven't really watched that show in a few years. He's probably the least funny comedian I've ever heard. He probably takes the conservative position to stand out....his horrible jokes sure won't make him stand out on their own.
