Brokaw did shuttle diplomacy with McCain camp over KO and MSNBC
Mr. Brokaw said he had also conducted some shuttle diplomacy in recent weeks between NBC and the McCain campaign. His mission, he said, was to assure the candidate’s aides that — despite some negative on-air commentary by Mr. Olbermann in particular — Mr. McCain could still get a fair shake from NBC News. Mr. Brokaw said he had been told by a senior McCain aide, whom he did not name, that the campaign had been reluctant to accept an NBC representative as one of the moderators of the three presidential debates — until his name was invoked.

“One of the things I was told by this person was that they were so irritated, they said, ‘If it’s an NBC moderator, for any of these debates, we won’t go,’ ” Mr. Brokaw said. “My name came up, and they said, ‘Oh, hell, we have to do it, because it’s going to be Brokaw.’ ”

Mr. Brokaw will moderate the second debate, on Oct. 7, in Nashville.

Last week during the Clinton Global Initiative in New York, Mr. Brokaw said, he spoke briefly with Mr. McCain, who has not appeared on “Meet the Press” since Mr. Russert’s death. While Mr. Brokaw said he and the Republican nominee are not personal friends, he did say they are “friendly” and “always had a great relationship.”

Fuck Brokaw, NBC, and McCain and his campaign for all its whining! You didn't see the Obama camp go all nuts over Gibson and George S. and the shitty attack job they did on a Dem Debate to Obama.

1. I hate, hate, hate brokejaw!
Really, I do.

He is so pompous.

I'm gonna have to write him a nice little letter.

You know he's gonna try to help his "friend" out.
He always does.

9. Why doesn't he shuttle his ass over to Fux Nooz?
You know, at one time he was in a position where he actually could have saved this country. He is such an ass.

2. McCain whining about Olbermann...
when he has an entire network shilling specifically for him all day, every day and against Obama all day, every day is pretty damn amusing to me. What a fucking wimp.

3. It makes me sick to my stomach he is a debate moderator
He is unabashedly pro McCain and while he is no longer the Nightly News anchor, one would assume he still swings a pretty big dick around the organization. You add him with pro McCain bobble heads like David Gregory and Chuck Todd and they've still got a fairly substantial right wing presence at the network.

Mark my words, he will go way out of his way to do his part to ensure McCain wins the next debate. Will it be enough to overcome Barack's skill? We'll find out.

5. Wow...Barack has dealt with so much slander and he's managed
to become the democratic nominee without whining about fair treatment! It's amazing to me how they are bending over back wards to accommodate this man. What ass kissers! If Barack even asked to be treated fairly it would be all over the news. Amazing!

7. The repukes and their minions in the media can crap all over the Dems, but as soon
as there is even the slightest little hint that someone leans a bit toward Obama they are crying and go running home to mommy.

It is just so typical of bullies that they are so happy and willing to give out the crap, but cannot handle being on the receiving end of it.

8. Good Grief! I thought you retired Tom...Please go back to your retirement!
We were getting along just fine until Tim Russert died and you decided to re-enter the mainstream again.

Yuck!

I think you're best at your WWII commentary...your bias isn't as evident here!

While I think Gregory is a shill for McSame and I can't stand Brokaw anymore I like Chuck Todd I think he gives his opinion and lately that has been bad news for McSsame if a couple of states are called tossups why is he so bad?

At least, conceivably, the Town Hall questions are posed by voters and emailers.

Are they going to come up with a different excuse for every debate.

13. ABC, Gibson and George S. did not get a debate
and I hope the Obama camp would have said NO to it if they were brought up.

I wouldn't see that as the equivalent of McCain/NBC. Who did a debate attack on McCain? I get them not wanting KO but they have so many allies at NBC they should welcome them. Do they think every progressive should be fired before they deal with a network?

17. Before Maddow, there was 1 Dem--Olberman--on MSNBC and none on NBC, and McCain had the nerve
to complain? And NBC and Brokaw catered to him? Whatever happened to the independent press contemplated by the First Amendment to the Constitution of the United States?

Folks, we have met the enemy and them is us. What are we going to do to hold mainstream nedia accountable so that mainstream media holds politicians responsible, the way that the Founders thought the press would? (They are so scared to go under now bc of the Internet.)

19. Here's a couple of letters I wrote to the head honchos @ NBC
Phil Griffin and Steve Capus regarding some of their decisions on McCain coverage. These were sent on September 11 of this year and I sent them each an email.

Dear Phil,

As a viewer of MSNBC, your decision to keep Keith Olbermann and Chris Matthews from covering the post debates and election coverage has left me no choice but to seek my coverage elsewhere. The decision was suppose to be because Olbermann is "controversial" at least he doesn't hide it like Tom Brokaw, Brian Williams (big Rush Limbaugh fan), David Gregory (Karl Rove's Go-Go dancer), and of course the late Tim Russert (voted for Bush, and admitted Jack Welch turned him into a republican).

While Olbermann may be an outspoken person, he shares my political views. David Gregory is a talking head for the RNC. I do not watch his Race to the White House program, because of his right wing connections and the talking points they give him.

I also must file a complaint about Gregory's coverage on his show today. It was brought to my attention that he spent a large portion of his show reaping praises on Palin and McCain sons serving in Iraq, however, he did not mention Joe Biden's son, Beau who is also serving our country in Iraq.

I do applaud your decision on giving Rachel Maddow her own show. She will provide the balance your cable network needs.

I will not watch MSNBC with the exception of Countdown with Keith Olbermann, and the Rachel Maddow Show.

Best Regards,

*********************************************************************

This email was sent September 15th.

I noticed that on Meet the Press Tom Brokaw let Rudy Giuliani get away with telling lies and misrepresenting the TRUTH about the legislative investigations of abuse of power in Alaska.

Rudy claimed that the investigations are being led by Democrats when in FACT they are being AUTHORIZED by a bipartisan panel with a vote of 12-0.

Is Tom Brokaw so afraid the McCain campaign which threatened to pull out of NBC's debates that HE will let them say ANYTHING?.?.?

The airwaves are suppose to be OUR way of making informed decisions, but when you let people distort the TRUTH then you are guilty of negligence. I guess you think we AREN'T paying attention.

Why should I watch your political programming when there is no BALANCE to the distortions coming from a campaign that is desperate of keeping our country and voting public dumb down?.?.?

The only programming worth my time is Countdown with Keith Olbermann and Rachel Maddow. Your other programming has proven to be very biased against the democrats.

I will continue to show my support for Keith Olbermann and Rachel Maddow, but I will not watch your other programming. I don't NEED that kind of "programming" since I'm not easily brainwashed.

Best Regards,

*****************************************************************

Of course I never got a response to any of my emails but I did let them know that I was aware of their Love for the republicons and how much they are afraid of them.

The only reason I know about their "programming" is because of DU and other liberal media that isn't afraid to inform the rest of us who can't stand to sit through their "programming."

20. Brokaw knows the score.
He saw the Republicans set up and then tarnish the record of Dan Rather in 2004, so he's gladly serving the role of personal towel boy to the McCain camp in order to hold on to his precious legacy. Problem being, the political landscape has changed greatly since then, and he's just coming off as a damn fool.

MSNBC should nab Rather, and Brokaw can run off to Fox News. Brokaw would rather like it there. After all, the McCain camp doesn't seem to mind an entire network full of anchors and hosts with political bias. That's somehow much better than one with two.

His job, folks...will be to explicitly prevent Obama from getting a "knockout" moment on 10/7/08!
That's a long way from "Fair Broker".
He will coddle and cajole, Pop-Pop..and steer that 2nd Debate like a seasoned Chauffeur!
You just watch!:puke:

25. This is why he is on Meet the Press - to orchestrate McCain's losing campaign, spin the news.
Edited on Tue Sep-30-08 05:50 AM by Major Hogwash
Last week after Axelrod straightened out Brokaw when he lied and said that Obama had not named any programs that he would cut in lieu of the current financial crisis, Brokaw said, "To be fair, in the latest poll more people view John McCain as a likely Commander in Chief than Barack Obama."

Which had nothing to do with anything they were talking about!!!!!!!!
