I'm watching John Adams on DVD, and thinking, MAN...
...someday this year's election will make one hell of an HBO miniseries.

3. John Adams was/is amazing. I enjoyed it quite a bit.
I think people should be required to watch what our founding fathers went through. They committed treason to create the USA, they would be really sad to see the state of things today.

4. I'm thinking that this year's election -- in real time -- is much better than any miniseries!
BTW, if we had Adams and Jefferson we could get out of this mess.

5. the book is even better
Was my summer reading! BTW, did you know, I didn't, that Jefferson was in debt up to his eyeballs (as the saying goes), until the day he died. The HBO miniseries was great.

6. John Adams was really good
though I thought the series lost steam as it went because of the time compression. It made it feel a little phoned in but still a great job overall.

7. John Adams was Washington's Vice President
I wonder if McCain modeled his choice after Adams.

9. How on earth do you compare a brilliant man like Adams with Sister Sarah?
Unless you're just trolling for an argument or something.

15. I didn't really think the sarcasm inidicator was necessary
... given how utterly ridiculous the comparison.

12. you forgot the smiley
Right? By the time he was VP, Adams had served in the Continental Congress, worked on the Declaration of Independence, was envoy to France, helped negotiate the Treaty of Versailles, and was Ambassador to Great Britain. Maybe more, but I'm going from memory.

And Ms Palin - well, she can see Russia. Come to think of it, I think Adams did some negotiating with Russia as well.

13. Chuckle. Yes. But I didn't really think it was necessary.
Re: Russia... I have no clue. But the HBO mini-series indicates that he basically sent his young son, John Quincy Adams, off to Russia as secretary to an ambassador or other dignitary. (Don't recall any interaction with Russia on the part of the father, based on the mini-series.)

8. i totally fell for thomas jefferson and would have voted
for the guy and had passion doing so. He holds alot of my values. Loved the series and learned alot after when i looked up a bunch of stuff in wiki. Like I didn't know that republicans and democrats started out together as one party and split up a few elections later over some issue.

10. TOTALLY
I can't stop thinking about those great books that come out after the elections, and how this year, it's going to take two books; one for the primary and one for the general, to get the real story.

But a miniseries! In about ten years, that would be glorious!
