Ed Rollins on McCain/Palin interview: It looked like her father trying to protect his daughter
OUCH!

Rollins has been really pissed these past few days. He said it with Gergen and Martin on AC360.

3. it did! I just saw the clip on KO, it's so inappropriate looking.
It looks like a father with his daughter at the principal's office, making excuses for her. I can't believe that they thought this would help...

6. I don't understand why they thought doing a "response" interview with Couric was a good idea....
I mean, isn't that an admission that the first interview was horrible? That they were going out there to set the record straight on the first one?

Well, that would require Palin to give a strong interview. Not to have McCain dominating the conversation, going crazy, and basically embarresing her further. WTF?

8. It was clearly done without looking at what it would look like and...
... I don't even think McCain and Palin talked to each other preemptively before the interview.

10. mccain jumped in with palin on couric's interview
to bail her out and ended up getting sucked in the quicksand.

His "Gotcha, is that a pizza restaurant?" will go down as one of the worst attempts at bailout(palin) humor of all time.

13. and will someone please get the woman a vocal coach?
Edited on Tue Sep-30-08 12:18 AM by joop
My ears involuntarily slam shut when I hear that grating voice with her backwater accent...

"In the context, this was a voter,(--aside--here you can almost see the momentary panic as she realizes she's been told repeatedly "voter" sounds too crass and common so she has to substitute the larger word they've coached her to use instead) a constituent, hollering out a question from across an area asking, "What are you gonna do about Pakistan? You better have an answer to Pakistan." I said we're gonna do what we have to do"

Do people actually "holler" anymore?
I'm gonna have to look into that. When I find out any current instances of actual hollering, I'llbringumtoya

I'm looking forward to seeing more of this new comedy team. I think it will be a limited engagement, though...

20. Just a thought
Edited on Tue Sep-30-08 04:56 AM by junofeb

I keep wondering if this sort of thing is the reason Todd is usually on her like white on rice. There was a really weirdly worded statement coming from him earlier about how the family, friends, and political aides were all missing her. I suspect she truly is more ambitious than smart and has been totally coached to be the attractive face of some pretty shadowy folks who 'run' her: Fundies, Birchers and Alaska Independance types. I think they are a little discomfitted by the exposure she's getting 'off leash' because it's gonna bite them when she gets back to AK with her veneer stripped off.

McCain's campaign is beginning to find out just how stupid she is on her own and just hard it is to keep her on message.

21. Looked like McCain chaperoning Palin
to me.

I've never seen anything like it before except maybe when Bush and Cheney were questioned together in the 9/11 Commission (although of course that one wasn't in public).
