I Found Out Today A Co-Worker's Brother Works On Tim Pawlenty's Staff
My co-worker and I were discussing the election today and he mentioned to me that his brother works on Tim Pawlenty's staff, and that right up until the very last moment, they were certain that McCain was going to pick Pawlenty to be his VP. Absolutely, 100% certain. They had fliers made up, signs, banners, ect. Then right up until the day that McCain announced Palin they got sucker-punched.

Now, from what my co-worker told me this afternoon, the Pawlenty people think McCain is insane. Absolutely batty.

I know this isn't exactly breaking news, but I wasn't sure if it was confirmed or not that if McCain didn't pick Palin he was going with Pawlenty.

2. They shouldn't feel too bad
After all, McTool didn't get to pick the VP candidate. He would have chosen Timmy if he'd been allowed to.

3. You know, I would have by far prefered Pawlenty. Don't misunderstand my point.
I am certainly not in favor of Pawlenty as a VP. I'm not in favor of McCain. But honestly, the though of Palin in the White House is beyond terrifying. There would be no place on Earth to hide from the danger she will cause. I just can't wrap my brain around the campaign selecting her. It is just unexplainable.

7. I totally agree with your post
Pawlenty is someone I diametrically disagree with.
Palin is someone who scares the freakin' bejeebus outta me!

4. Would have loved "bridge boy"

5. I suspected as much.
McCain's handlers panicked after Obama's convention speech and decided they needed to pull an attention-grabbing stunt. Hence the last-minute Palin pick.

6. K&R#5 - From the Newsweek interview with Lindsey Graham (R-Closet), there were certainly people on
the VP vetting squad who wanted Pawlenty, but he lost out because of gender politics.

From several sources, I got the impression that McCain wanted Lieberman or, as a second choice, Ridge and the RNC pushed Palin on McCain.
