So the Dow was down 700 points about ten minutes ago, and has risen 320 points since then.

So the Dow was down 700 points about ten minutes ago, and has risen 320 points since then.
This is why I will never really "get" the markets.

2. A fall like that
prompts some buyers to snatch up stocks they perceive as bargains. The resulting volume of buys inches prices back up.

4. A bunch of people see the bad news and sell immediately. Prices collapse. People see the collapsed
prices, and think, "hey, I can buy on the cheap," and put in buy orders. Prices go back up a bit.

6. A lot of people have stops in place to sell
The market plummets and this triggers their sell, causing prices to drop more and more to get triggered. Doesn't surprise me that since it dropped so fast, it came back up some.
