1. They'll be wearing skates
Actually IIRC they'll be seated at a table. So you don't see Palins knees knocking together.

2. That's been the same format for years.
I remember Lieberman and Cheney in 2000 and Cheney and Edwards both sitting at a table.

6. Standing at lecturns. Democrats wanted this to avoid the Cheney\Edwards format. In exchange..
they gave shorter answering periods for Palin.

7. Here's the rules:
Both sides appear to have gotten what they wanted for the Oct. 2 vice-presidential debate at Washington University in St. Louis.

Republicans wanted to limit the amount of time for answers as a way to aid Gov. Sarah Palin. The v.p. contenders wil get 90 seconds to respond to questions followed by a two-minute discussion period of each topic.

Moderator Gwen Ifill of PBS can ask questions on any topic.

The presidential candidates will have two minutes to respond to questions followed by a five-minute discussion period.

Democrats wanted lecterns to be used in the debate as opposed to the setup used in the last two v.p. debates where the candidates sat near each other at a table. That made it more difficult, insiders said, for John Edwards and Joe Lieberman to more aggressively confront Dick Cheney.
