And that is TWO polls that is giving us such close numbers

Let's all help get Bruce Lunsford name out there - this may be another seat we could pick up!!! And taking out Mitch McConnell would be SWEET

1. McConnel has a new attack ad out
It ties Lunsford to some veteran's clinics that got investigated and reprimanded by the VA, along with sad stories from veterans treated there.

Whether or not is true, half-true, whatever, it's going to be painful.

2. Not like Mitch McConnell is pure as the driven snow
If we're this close; hopefully the DNC will pipe some money into Kentucky and run some good quality ads against McConnell. Mitch's record SUCKS!

9. Not by a longshot
But, perception is reality, as 2004 showed us. Unless Lunsford (with some DNC cash) fights back effectively, he's going to be the guy who beat veterans for more profit.

5. Kentucky Poll finds doubts about Palin's abilities
Although they solidly support Republican John McCain for president, more Kentucky voters are less confident in the leadership abilities of his vice presidential running mate, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, according to the latest Courier-Journal Bluegrass Poll.

In fact, 47 percent of likely Kentucky voters said the Democratic vice presidential candidate, Sen. Joe Biden of Delaware, was more qualified to lead, compared with 36 percent for Palin.

I'm going with Electoral Vote's website which is a clearing house of the major polling places along with local newspapers. EV still counts Lieberman as a democrat supporting senator but we all know come 2009 he'll side with the republicans. The democrats will strip him of his committee seats and the only way he can save his comittee job is go republican

Here's the breakdown

49 - # of Democratic Senators
1 - # of Independants who side with Democrats (and I'm not counting Joe, just Bernie)
___

50 - # of Current Democrat Voting Senators in US
1 - Mark Warner wins (Pick up from Republican Retiring John Warner)
1 - Tom Udall wins (Pick up from Republican Retiring Pete Domenici)
1 - Mark Udall wins (Pick up from Republican Retiring Wayne Allard)
1 - Jean Shaheen wins NH (Defeats incumbant John Sununu)
1 - Jeff Merkley wins OR (Defeats incumbant Gordon Smith)
1 - Mark Begich wins AK (Defeats incumbant Ted Stevens)
1 - Kay Hagen wins NC (Defeats incumbant Elizabeth Dole)

__

57 - Number of Democrat voting senators if the election were held today

NOW the magic number we want is 60, that's a filibuster proof senate (provided that all democrats support the filibuster) which means we need to win the following 3 states that are leaning republicans BUT democrats are polling close including:

Minnesota: Al Franken has to defeat incumbant Norm Coleman
Mississippi: Ronnie Musgrove has to defeat incumbant Roger Wicker (he replaced Lott)
Kentucky: Bruce Lansford has to defeat incumbant Mitch McConnell

Right now we are not polling well in the following states:
Idaho, Wyoming (2 races), Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, Maine and the regular election in Mississippi (Thad Cochran is up for re-election).

So if we get 10 seats we're cutting it real close. The states where republicans are ahead there is a big leap between the 3 where we're close (5% or less) to the clear red states (10% or more for all of them).

10. Minnesota is a big state with lots of rural areas
They're going to need major turnout in St. Paul/Minnesota to win that one.

I hope they do, Franken is a good guy and I would love to watch him on CSpan
