New McCain ad is so racist I feel like I'm hallucinating
Edited on Sun Sep-28-08 11:25 PM by Kurt_and_Hunter
Watching AMC and a McCain ad comes on talking about McCain heroic leadership on the bail-out, and how Obama wants to give away everybody's money to greedy wall-street CEOs.

The picture used in the ad to illustrate a greedy fat cat is a smirking/smiling black man. (ON EDIT: I am correctly informed it's Mr. Raines.)

Obviously there are plenty of black businessmen, but no one on Earth would illustrate the concept 'corporate fat-cat' with a black man (in the symbolic visual language of advertising.)

ON EDIT: And (now that I know it's Raines) it's just one more attrocity on which no one can be called in a politically useful way. C'est la vie.

(By which I mean there would be no upside to the ad being a campaign controversy... in that sense it's almost a 'dare' ad. "Here's what we would like to talk about... will you play along?")

The ad was this one

40. A smirking Black man followed by a white haired woman.
They have got to do something to protect the virtue of the white womem from the evil Black man. I wish I could teach a race class to this country in the next two weeks so they would understand the racist messages that being sent out. Then I would like someone to teach them how to see that these SOBs lie every time they open their mouths. I don't want to hate, but it is getting harder every day and the list of people ticking me off is getting longer. :nuke:

3. Saw it.
I've also been trying to be careful to not be overly sensitive to the race card during this process, as I knew it was coming and knew Obama knew it was coming. I tried to only allow those ads/messages that were blatant to bother me. That was blatant. This one should hopefully backfire on them, as it's a new low for these clowns - overt racism and bald-faced lies all in one ad. Nice.

6. Yes, yes, yes, but what does this have to do with Bill Clinton?
Is Clinton in the ad? Did Clinton make the ad? Did Clinton maybe advise McCain to make the ad? What does this have to do with Clinton? He's tonight's topic of discussion, you know. Are we even allowed to talk about McCain? This all gives me a very bad feeling.

41. This is just too easy.
But Clinton will be out there tomorrow talking about what a great guy mccain is and so on and so on. And he will never mention the dirty stuff mccain is doing. Then he will grit his teeth and give a faint recommendation of Obama being smart but needs to let people know he loves them, or so on. There are you happy now. I didn't want to disappoint you.

36. Actually Obama should expose Rick Davis for being a LOBBYIST for the Housing Industry
while still working on McCain's campaign and making $30,000 a month and then $15,000 a month since last month.

While Keating 5 is still an issue the bigger issue and most recent issue IS McCain has lobbyist working on his campaign who are and have benefitted from this "crisis" which would be more damaging.

I was soooo hoping Obama would have mentioned that in the debate, maybe he will hammer McCain in a later debate. But he needs to do it to remind everyone watching who the "Real" McCain is and NOT this fantasy McCain "maverick" which would be manna from heaven.

22. The whole reason they tried so hard to lay the groundwork to link
Obama to Raines, despite the fact that they have only talked a couple times and he is not an Obama advisor, was so that they could link Obama to a new "bad" black man in ads.

25. Well you missed the real fraud in the ad

It has been acknowledged that Raines has never advised Obama and at the same time Davis's, McCain's campaign manager, company continued to recieve $ 15,000 a month until just a few days ago when their government buy out made it illegal and public.

Freddie Mac admitted that there was no real lobbying going on they were only interested in access to McCain.

Unconsciounable intellectual fraud.

I hope that after the election McCain is treated like the pariah he is.

30. That's not true.
He did have a hand in it - he fucked it up for his own hoped-for personal gain.

"Change is Coming" That'd be like Krispy Kreme flashing, "Highly Nutritious" across the screen at the end of a commercial. They really, truly don't even care that they're lying, that everyone knows they're lying, that they're going to get hammered for lying and that it's costing them votes, it seems. I hope they keep it up.

38. They used that same leering/scheming picture of Raines in the Fannie Mae Ad
There's definitely a subtext behind it. Look, I am black, and I know we've made progress here in America. But the simple truth these days is that when you think of a corporate CEO, the first image that pops in your head is not a black guy.

They put Raines in there for a reason. To tie Obama to the idea of ethically unsound "black leadership". Same thing the TN RNC did with the Kwame Kilpatrick/Obama ad. Next they'll somehow try and tie him to Marion Berry.

It has to be the most outrageous lie yet to come out of the McCain camp, and that's saying a lot.

It's almost as if he somehow confused himself with Obama, and mixed up the names in the ad.
