Somebody stole our Obama Yard Sign!
Argh!

Our neighbor just came over from across the street. He is an 82 year old Vet For Peace. He wanted to know if we moved our sign.

He said "God Damit" when we told him we had not moved it! "They stole it", he shouted!

That made me laugh!

Back to Dem Headquarters tomorrow and this time I will get 3 yard signs. (if they still have them)

1. Mix vaseline and habenro juice
And put a thin coat on your signs.

6. and on the wire stand
just watch them try to pull it out with a thick coat of vaseline. We video taped someone doing this once (in broad daylight!) You can also try the blue dye trick.

Mix Blue Dye with the vaseline? I like that idea!

Maybe I could rig up a trap off the tree that drops eggs on their heads! The eggheads!

2. I lost my really cool one I bought at cafe press
It said Obama for a brighter tomorrow and had neat pic of sun coming out of the clouds. We had a really big wind storm and even though it was bolt down far it managed to come lose and blow away. I was so sad...

5. I don't have a yard sign but I have 2 bumper stickers (car parked in driveway)
Edited on Sat Sep-27-08 06:35 PM by rainbow4321
But I was thinking the other day after reading yard sign theft prevention tips here on DU.
If I were to get one, I'd get a shitload of thumb tacks, attach them a some clear tape (poke holes thru the tape with the tacks) and then put the tape around the back of the sign where their FINGERS are most likely to land as they try to pull it out of the ground. If nothing else you might hear a yelping curse from the front yard at the time of the theft.

Of course, before I did that my car would be parked in the garage first so they don't take out their anger on my car!

7. In 2004, a DUer had a great idea that worked for her family.
I can't remember who it was now, but their Kerry/Edwards sign kept getting stolen.

So they put up a homemade sign right up next to the Kerry/Edwards sign that read "Every time you steal our sign, we donate to Democrats. Thanks for your support!"

Nobody ever stole the sign again. ;-)

13. Tanglefoot. Get it at the garden centers.
It's like a synthetic super-sticky pine sap. If it get on your hands it takes a lot of scrubbing and abrasion to get it off.

If it gets on your clothes you may as well toss them; it's NOT coming out.

It's normally used to 'paint' around a tree trunk to catch insect larva and caterpillars. Pretty cheap, very easy to spread on the edges of the signs and wire stands, and it WILL make whoever steals/vandalizes them wish that they had just continued on down the road.

15. Oh! This I like! Kind of like Guerrilla (Glue) Warfare!
I could even find some nettles in the back and stick them on. Ouch!

I am nicer to the squirrels and crows who steal things from my garden.

Obama Signs...... battle is on!

I could fill water balloons with paint and hang them on the back.

I bet they did it at night.
