My father always told me to look a man in his eyes!
If you look a man in his eyes, that means you being truthful with him. If you look a man in his eyes, that means your word is your bond. If you look a man in his eyes, that means that what you say comes from your heart.

When I think of a maverick, I think of a person that consist of all of the characteristics of the what I have listed above, to an even higher degree! I think a maverick look deep into a man's eyes and tell them what he is going to do and mean it. I do not believe a true maverick will constantly look away when engaging another person. So, this whole maverick misconception is "bull-shucks"! John McCain has not been a maverick since the 80's! If he were a true maverick, he would have looked at Barack Obama in his eyes and addressed him with truthfulness, his word would have been his bond, and from the heart.

Finally, by John McCain not look at Barack Obama in his eyes, shows me a sign that either he does not respect Barack. Which shows me that he does not take Barack seriously. Or, he is ashamed of being wrong on so many issues. He knows, in his hear-of-hears that Barack is the better man for the job and all he is doing is prolonging the inevitable.

2. My father & mother taught the same thing & taught my DDs the same thing...
I also agree that's how I picture a maverick. A maverick should be able to you in the eye, deal with you honestly, with integrity and no BS... McCain may have been a "maverick" once upon a time but that time is past and now he's just a poser.

3. Yes and the talking points mccains serrigates are using today
that he was looking through him because he sees right through him is just admitting he has no respect for Obama. They just did mccain in, IMO.
