Biden's got to be real careful,
SP is bound to say some astoundingly stupid things, and he just might be thrown off. Like, WHAT??? You know, astoundingly DUH! Type moments!..Hopefully he can just ignore her senseless crap and stay on message.

1. I just hope he doesn't bust out laughing.
The poor man has to treat her with the dignity and respect of a Veep candidate. Biden is a gentleman and pure class, he'll do fine.

8. Especially for someone as gregarious as Joe.
look for beat red ears - I tell ya, I'd pay to be a fly on the wall when he's finally away from all reporters for the night. :)

Edited on Sat Sep-27-08 05:44 PM by OmahaBlueDog
Sarah sounds coherent... not brilliant, just like not a drooling idiot

-Then-

Biden makes a major gaffe (to which he is prone)

Everyone tells me that Biden will be fine, because he will be prepared. I'll just be happy when that debate is over.

9. I don't really think you have to worry about SP sounding coherent!
They aren't allowed teleprompters at a debate, and without one, the only coherent thing I've heard her say since the convention was the other day when a reporter asked her how her meeting went with Kissinger, and she answered "Great!" Seh seems to do fine with ONE WORD ANSWERS, but more than that not so much!

10. She'd need a brain transplant first.
Even during those network interviews she was surrounded by handlers.

Did you see last night when the candidates were on the stage, the lights go down, the audience is told to be silent.....you are up there completely alone.

Seriously, between Biden and Palin, I think Palin is winning the gaffe award.

16. If he calls on someone, it's his job to know, or an aides job to have told him
Someone dropped the ball there, big time.

And I'm sorry if this offends you or causes the all-caps on your keyboard to stick, but you might want to check this article out.

-snip-

<<Incredibly, though, the senator seems to have saved the worst for last. Asked last night by Katie Couric on the "CBS Evening News," Biden delivered what has to be most off-message statement yet: that one of his campaign's own ads--the spot released earlier this month mocking McCain for not being able to use a computer--was "terrible." "I didn't know we did it and if I had anything to do with it, we would have never done it," he said. The campaign was soon forced to issue a less-than-convincing clarification in Biden's name. (Apparently he'd "never seen" the ad.") Meanwhile, video surfaced this morning of Biden telling a rope-line environmentalist in Ohio that he and Obama "are not supporting clean coal" in America--even though Obama, well, is. McCain quickly pounced, using Biden's error to pivot away from Wall Street and make the case that Democrats don't support comprehensive energy solutions; conference calls and ads are in the works. Biden may have opposed the technology in the primaries--he's on record as saying "clean-coal ... is not the route to go in the United States"--but he should probably brush up on his briefing books (or pay attention to his own speeches) now that his boss disagrees. >>

25. You know what, I have debunked that coal thing, like 4 times now.
There are PLENTY videos on the internet, which back UP Joe, in that they DO support clean coal technology. He didn't HEAR what she said. If you look at the video, it was LOUD there. He heard her say COAL, not the CLEAN part. That's obvious.

Joe Biden and Obama BOTH support CLEAN COAL TECHNOLOGY EXPLORATION.

Either get behind our candidates, or get the fuck out. That's what I think. You don't have to agree with everything they say, but don't come onto a PUBLIC MESSAGE BOARD and slam them!!

What the fuck is wrong with people!!!

23. Palin has said the most inane things and you are caught up on Biden's little gaffes?
Edited on Sat Sep-27-08 06:11 PM by Jennicut
The woman does not know the Bush doctrine, thinks Alaska needs to stop Russia from coming into its airspace, has no points to offer when asked when McTroll has ever supported regulation, and has to look at notecards to finish an interview. She is pathetic and you are caught up in a dumb mistake about a man that he didn't realize was in a wheelchair and apologized afterward for it? Your concern is duly noted.

7. Joe Biden is a good man, a good Senator and a good stateman. I for one..
am sick to death of hearing how he makes gaffe's. Anybody who tells the truth is considered a gaffe maker in this country.

Quit buying into that crap.

14. Nobody is against...
...telling the truth and, yes, for the most part, Joe Biden has done some very good things. However, he does have a talent for putting his foot in his mouth every now and then; the Daily Show did a funny clip on it two days ago. I find his gaffes to be the verbal version of Gerald Ford's clumsiness, something to laugh at but nothing more. That being said, I do believe he knows how to handle Palin and I am sure that the Republicans will have more to fear when she has to fill 2 full minutes with her unintelligible gibberish.

28. Are you kidding me? Have you been listening to Americans today?
We cuss like drunken sailors, deride anyone with an opinion, "F" this is the national language and we crucify people who express dissent...and you think Biden is funny?

Biden speaks his mind and he is old enough not to be prissy about it. He is not rude, and although he has been known to be wordy, he crafts his answers, unlike most of the Dem. politicians. THAT I like.

29. So what if U.S. citizens cuss?
That is not the issue. The issue was whether Biden occasionally puts his foot in his mouth; which he does. Most of the time I can laugh about it. Sometimes it makes me cringe and hope, for his sake, that nobody was paying attention. I regret that you can't recognize that and see the distinction.

She certainly deserves it. There's no sympathy coming her way now after the McCain campaign has kept her away from the media.

Biden calls her ass on it. Obama called McCain out on his wrong statements.

Palin is competing for a job that puts her a heartbeat away from becoming President. She should be knowledgeable, competent and not prone to wilting like a delicate flower when criticized for being wrong.

27. This could be similar to the Bentsen-Quayle debate.
Quayle kept trying to impress the audience by namedropping JFK until Bentsen pile-drived him.

Quayle was regarded as the buffoon he was for the rest of the campaign.

I've gotta think Palin will say something to give Biden the opportunity to smack her down verbally, bursting her bubble.

31. If Palin performs the same as she did with Couric, there will be no need to smack her down hard.
It will be the most awkward, uncomfortable 90 minutes in presidential debate history. Viewers will want to change the channel.
