12. would it B significant if, after being TIED 2 days ago, he rose in a few days to OVER 50% in Gallup?
From 46/46 in Thurs report to, say 51-42 next Tues or Weds would be a big deal (but it would be a bigger deal yet if Obama had not only won the debate, but scored something of a knockout, like the first Kerry/Bush debate).

But Kerry was way behind Bush in the polls before that debate, and still narrowly behind him after that.

Edited on Sat Sep-27-08 04:56 PM by obiden
Today's results are based on FRIDAY's day pollings mostly..which would have been done before the debate....so this 5 point lead is PRE-debate imo....the real impact of the debate won't be seen until tomorrow's results (gallup/rasmussen and other dailies being conducted *RIGHT NOW* etc.) start to come out...if obama won the debate, these numbers should hold for tomorrow, otherwise if Mccain cuts the lead in tomorrow's polls, that means he got the debate to work for him and Obama didn't...that's how I'm looking at it.

10. No, if the polls even out then the debate didn't have any effect
Neither candidate has been able to hold a consistent lead. A narrowing would probably be due more to return to status quo pressure than the debate itself.
