A Simple & Very True Talking Point: McCain was not just condescending to Obama

But, to the American people.

Every time he told Obama he didn't understand and spoke down to him in the most arrogant of ways, he was speaking down to us. Think about it. The majority of Americans are FOR Obama, not McCain. Millions upon millions of us share similiar views and positions on policy positions and issues. And, McCain had the utter audacity to not only talk to down to the MAJORITY of American people, he deemed us beneath the common courtesy of simple acknowledgement. He was dismissive to the point of insult. He was rude in body language & voice tone. He wouldn't even do the most basic civil courtesy of looking our representative in the eye. And, he insulted our intelligence by continuing to LIE to us, and think that we are too naive and simple to 'get it'.

1. My 90 year old mom said today
that McCain was trying to "brainwash people" by saying the same thing over and over about Obama, and it was obvious it was a lie because Obama told the truth about it! She went on about how nice and polite Obama was and how rude McCain was. She can hardly wait to vote for Obama in November--and she is a registered Republican!

6. I agree with your mom
He took a page from Rove and his idol Josef Goebbels--just keep repeating the Big Lie and the sheeple will believe it. Not this time, I don't think so.

fact.

12. my 93 year old grandmother
is a bit racist but she knows that Obama is way smarter than McCain and that McCain is a liar and too senile to be president. She's a little worried about voting for an African American but she'll vote for him because she knows the alternative would be disasterous.

15. What a nice polite boy! He now leads with seniors, as well.

Obama's Mama & Grandma taught him manners.

Apparently, the nanny skipped it with McCain.

2. that is a brilliant observation

and his flippant "yeah sure" as to whether he will support the bailout was also condescending to Congress

No wonder he isn't considered "Miss Congeniality"

4. or another way of looking at it...
As Obama said today

"Through 90 minutes of debate, John McCain had a lot to say about me, but he didn't have anything to say about you," Obama told a cheering crowd at the J. Douglas Galyon Depot in downtown Greensboro. "He didn't even say the words 'middle class.' He didn't even say the words 'working people.'"

that should make us all a little angry...

offensive behavior was far worse than your post suggested. He was, in my opinion, pathologically insulting, arrogant, and demeaning to Obama and all of us who supported him as our champion.

One note about debate tactics, just repeating bad things over and over about the opponent such as "you just don't seem to understand", doesn't carry any weight with those who witness the debate.
They are leading, non-sense remarks, whose disingenuous purposes are comically obvious.

16. Wait. This was only the first debate....I wouldn't be surprised if he called him worse

McCain is full of hate, and he might pop.

I bet it is his handlers worst fear.

14. a 13 yr old told me the other day, mccain is more american than obama
i said... cause he was in military?

yes the boys said

i told him, then all military is more american than the rest of us. does that sound right?

of course not

but mccains debate reminds me of what this boy said. mccain is saying cause of his experience, he has the insight and knowledge and ALL that has not had his experience does not understand. yes it was an insult to all of us. put all of us in our place. and also shut all of us up.

he is saying he need not listen to anyone else, cause they just do not have the experience he does
