Tucker Bounds says of Obama ..and says it twice ..."800 Billion of Earmarks for his homestate"

He also called Obama a cowboy. McCain's campaign is just throwing everything hoping it sticks.

4. This is the second time I'm reading about a lie spoken by a McNasty to Shuster
that he did not correct or challenge. What a pile he turned out to be.

6. Let's add a little perspective:
http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/nationworld/2008154532_webpalin02m.html

Palin's earmark requests: more per person than any other state
....Just this year, she sent to Sen. Ted. Stevens, R-Alaska, a proposal for 31 earmarks totaling $197 million — more, per person, than any other state.......

....As a result, Alaska this year was in such a money-flushed condition — with no state income tax or sales tax and total state revenues of $10 billion, double the previous year's — that Palin gained legislative approval for $1,200 cash payments to every Alaskan.

In addition, each Alaska resident gets an annual dividend check, about $2,000 this year, from Alaska's oil-wealth savings account, known as the Permanent Fund, now fattened to more than $35 billion.

The state also has been able to tap into a gusher of federal money as its Republican congressional delegation rose in seniority and clout.

emphasis added.

9. How about THIS perspective?
$800 billion in earmarks?

The Federal Budget for FY'07 was around 2.4 trillion dollars.
Does this chucklehead really expect us to believe that the junior Senator from Illinois somehow managed to con the Congress of the United States into allowing him to claim ONE THIRD of the Federal Budget for his home state?

Hell, if he's THAT good, make him president NOW and turn him loose on the UN! We'd have the credit crisis solved and our deficit woes would be over and the REST of the world would gladly pay for it, right?

Sometimes these guys just don't THINK... and they're BETTING you aren't either!

7. Woot! Maybe we can have a decent public school downstate now?
Nah, governor Blagojevich would find a way to pave some sidewalks in rich neighborhoods instead.

13. FWIW... Obama openly discloses his '08 Federal Funding Requests ("Earmarks:")
http://obama.senate.gov/press/070621-obama_announces_3/

Here's what the "Citizens Against Government Waste (CAGW)" said about Barack earlier this year when they released their "Pig Book":
http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/04/02/pork.spending/index.html
The Democrats were behind 5,199 projects worth $5.5 billion, while the Republicans earmarked 3,408 projects worth $4.4 billion, the citizen's group said.

And in a sign bipartisanship is not dead, the two parties jointly backed 2,518 projects worth $3.8 billion. Interactive: Map of pork per capita by state »

The three senators running for president were not among the top targets of criticism, and one got an entirely clean bill from the watchdog group.

"Sen. Obama had 53 earmarks worth $97 million dollars, and Sen. Clinton had 281 earmarks worth $296 million. Sen. Obama recently said he would not request any project for this upcoming fiscal year," said Tom Schatz, the president of Citizens Against Government Waste.

"And of course Sen. McCain has never requested them and he won't be doing so in 2009. So now the question is if Sen. Clinton will join the other major candidates in saying that she will not request any earmarks for 2009."

To qualify for the Pig Book, a project must meet at least one of these standards: it was requested by only one chamber of Congress; was not specifically authorized; was not competitively awarded; was not requested by the president; greatly exceeded the president's budget request or the previous year's funding; was not the subject of congressional hearings; or served only a local or special interests.

Mind you I don't think all "earmarks" or "pork" is bad... it depends on what it's for to me.
