I would like to thank the MISS audience last night.

I don't remember ever seeing such a respectful audience at any debate. They followed Lehrer's instructions and held applause, etc. until the end. And I think it helped us. At least twice I could see McCain get visibly shaken when he delivered an "applause line" and got no response - even though the crowd was overwhelmingly pro-McCain.

Also, I'd like to thank both candidates for giving us the closest thing to a real debate in a long, long time. They were not only "allowed" to talk to each other, they were encouraged to do so (I almost fell out of my chair when Lehrer did that!). There were no little lights counting down how much time they had left, they were able to finish their comments. the candidate were very civil to each other - even though McCain obviously doesn't like Obama. Although part of that may have been him realizing he was getting beaten. There were no real "gotcha" moments, although McCain did manage to get in a few jabs. But mostly it stayed on track and about the issues and their stance on the issues.

All in all, probably the best debate I have ever seen. ESPECIALLY since Obama won!
:bounce:

EDIT: spelling.

3. The people of Mississippi provided the classiest audience I've ever witnessed.
Thank you for pointing this out. We'd commented about this last night in our home, but I'm very happy that you took the time to make this point here.

What a polite and graceful and civilized audience that was last night.

The people of Mississippi set a new standard. They should be proud.

This Californian was really, really impressed.

4. Stay classy, Ole Miss!
That was really nice and with no applause, it gave more time to actually debate! McCain kept trying to deliver his usual crowd jabs but, alas, not this time! Thank you Mississippi for setting the standard.

5. Yes, that audience was very good in that it didn't allow them to play to the crowd.
And thus forced them to stay on the issues instead. Although, I hear that a lot of the Ole Miss people really hate McCain now for fucking them over when he was jerking everyone around with his pre-debate shenanigans.
