David Plouffe: McCain's "do not understand" was "sophomoric"
David Plouffe, Obama campaign manager:

It's kind of fitting that Sen. McCain did his debate prep in the high school gym in Oxford yesterday, because it was kind of a sophomoric approach, this litany of "do not understand."

The RW's last gasp at spinning McCain's performance is based on his "sophomoric" responses.

3. And apparently he didn't understand because he didn't visit certain places
like Waziristan or Afghanistan. I wonder why actually planting one's feet on the soil of another country alone imparts special knowledge about that country in a person. What's important is not where you go but with whom you interact and what a broad spectrum of input you get on an issue and how open you are to differing points of view on a certain country.

4. Exactly - he kept bragging about he'd been everywhere... that still doesn't mean you're right
or know what the hell you're talking about.

9. Obama lived in another country as a child,
going to school with local children. Yeah, we know McSame "lived" in Vietnam for 5 years, but it's hardly the same kind of experience. McSame, as a prisoner, may have learned distrust and hatred for another culture. Obama learned to negotiate, get along, understand, emphathize, etc., as part of being a kid who is different.

A person doesn't get that kind of experience during a Congressional junket or vacation. And certainly not from the airport in Dublin or from looking at Russia from one's backyard.

7. Thank you!!! In my mind being a rude jerk does not equal "strong"
It's just being a rude jerk, and I don't think he came off as anybody I would ever hire to negotiate ANYTHING on my behalf...much less being President!

8. I agree. All those years in the Senate and all those years
running for office and the man does not know how to debate. Jim Lehrer told Obama to "look at John and tell him that". I didn't hear him tell McCain to look at Obama.

McCain came off rude, aged, angry and arrogant. His body language was tense. Obama was very Presidential, imo.

10. LOL
"... if we are really lucky, as someone suggested in another thread, McCain will overcompensate and spend the entire time comically and creepily attempting to make eye contact with Obama ... "
