Palin and the Evangelical Right
As an evangelical who really can't stand when others who self-identify that way are willing to elect evildoers (W and Big Dick) and are willing to throw the country away by even remotely considering Palin qualified, I'm afraid I have to say it: The Evangelical Right would vote for Satan himself if he called himself a Christian.

1. Yes I believe you are correct in your analysis.

I don't have anything against any type of religion. That's what's great about America an individual can worship whomever they wantor if an individual chooses not to they have that option.

I don't want religion and politics mixed in our government. The founding fathers of this country understood what the outcome could be. Nazi Germany did the same thing...and we know the results from that period in history.

Welcome to DU!:hi:

2. They would - they're utterly crazy. Not YOU, but a significant segment of evangelicals.

3. it's what I'm scared of
I'm afraid the super-religious don't give a damn about the environment, they're just waiting for the 2nd coming to happen any day now.
They're gonna kill us all off.
It will not surprise me one bit if Palin is president in 3 years. I have no faith left in people from now on.
His Image is raping the entire earth and driving out thousands of other species. Palin said God put the dinosaurs here so we could later pump out their fossils to run our shiny automobiles.

I'm more afraid of religion every day.

Anyone who really cares knows that Matthew 25 is just about the most important part of the bible. And welcome to DU :hi:!

6. I saw this really twisted pro life ad on you tube recently
Basically, it mentioned the Iraq casulties (4000 US soldiers) and then said abortions per day in America: 3000, per year: 1 million. And then said there should be no question of who to vote for (Mccain obviously). So, all the Iraq deaths don't matter much, because of all the abortions and that should be the main priority.

Obviously, abortions are tragic, but you can't compare that to losing a fully formed person (with freinds, family, children of their own.) But I think a lot of evangelicas see it that way. It doesn't matter if the republicans are responsible for hundreds of thousands of deaths overseas, if they're going to wreck the ecomony and continue to turn a blind eye to the health care problem. The main thing is they are anti abortion. So, you can justify voting for anyone as long as they claim to be anti abortion.

7. Twisted for another obvious reason
It's really infuriating when Americans don't bother counting the dead that aren't "their own."

As if those lost lives due to our invasion and occupation aren't even worth mentioning.

8.  don't the pro life people realise there are pregnant women in Iraq?
Edited on Sat Sep-27-08 03:01 PM by galaxy21
Or in a place like Iran where they're so eager to go to war?

If all they care about is fetuses, you'd think this would have crossed their minds by now.

9. It IS all they care about (fetuses) - as someone said, they're really 'Pro-Birth', not 'Pro-Life',
because once the baby is born, they don't give a crap! They're against Head Start, welfare, etc.

10. Well, Terri Schiavo

But my point was they don't even care about all fetuses. Just American ones.

11. bravo to you for voicing this as an evangelical
I left the church a few years back exactly because of this political-endorsing attitude of I know better than you do, and if you disagree with me, then you go to hell (literally). Then they collectively shun you.

As for Palin, I have no words....
