The "Debate" Why Obama Wasn't "outraged on behalf of a country gone to hell"

Eye Contact Is Un-American
by Allison Kilkenny
The Huffington Post
September 27, 2008

.... What Jim (and the American people) got were two politicians doing what politicians do best -- reciting their stump speeches, and for the most part, trying to avoid the blade of a snappy comeback.

Obama didn't even raise an eyebrow when McCain professed his love for the troops, even though McCain opposed the G.I. bill that would have expanded benefits for veterans.

Obama surrogates love to talk about what a classy gent their boss is, which is why he didn't want to deliver a "Gotchya" moment at McCain. But if Obama can't nail McCain on mirroring the behavior of one of the most despised administrations in the history of the country, the Democrats are doomed come November.

The Democrats needed a firm leader, who arrived outraged on behalf of a country gone to hell. What they got was a gentleman with a fine memory, who largely repeated the same message he's been delivering for half a year.

Alas, not even McCain had enough energy to make this debate interesting. It looked like John was using every ounce of his iron-clad will just not to die on his feet. I don't even think he looked mean like some pundits are claiming. Instead, he also looked pathetically weak and apathetic.

Objection, your Honor, assumes facts not in evidence.

3. Doomed Is A Bit Strong .... But ..........
If Obama can't pin McCain to the Bush administrations domestic and foreign policy failures the Democratic Party chances of victory are not good.

Doomed is a strong word the writer used to demonstrate their concern, if not outright fear of a Republican victory.

6. Oh please. Are chances of victory are extremly good since the financial meltdown
Most people blame the Rethugs and most people think Obama is way better on the economy then McTroll. We are also ahead in the polls by about 5% right now and after the debates we could push it to 7%. One more point is we had plenty of anger at Bush in 2004 and nothing came of it. We need more than anger at the past, we need inspiration and hope for the future and Obama has got that part down.

4. She must have watched a different debate last night than I did.
I didn't think Obama just recited his stump speech.

I didn't think Obama wasn't firm enough.

I didn't think McCain looked "pathetically weak."

7. If Obama would have been outraged they
would have called him an angry black man. He would have been disrespectful to an elderly war (Hero?). Look what they said about Al Gore when he got in the chimps face, he was an overbearing preachy no it all.

8. How About Obama Showing Some Conviction And Passion?
Would that upset some racists? F*ck em .... they'll vote for McCain anyway. He's got a lock on the hardcore racist no matter what Obama says or does.

Obama needs to loosen up .... not speak like a professor lecturing us .... and please don't tell us how right John McCain is on the issues!
