Sarah Palin (herself!) will be on "Saturday Night Live" tonight.
Rumors are rampant (and I have my own "sources" that confirm) that Palin's campaign team did a walk-through yesterday and again this morning to prepare for Sarah Palin's appearance on SNL tonight.

It's also relatively certain that Tina Fey will appear, so maybe they're doing some schtick together.

I do get that self-deprecation can be effective, but, c'mon now. Didn't Bob Dole wait until after he lost the election before shilling in Doritos and Viagra ads?

47. This really cuts against McCain's "I have to stop everything to get a bailout done"
Notice, he cancelled Letterman, but not SNL.

How is that going to play out on Sunday and Monday, as the most serious economic crisis in at least two decades is the centerpiece? And since she was a no show FRIDAY night for the debates, how will the SNL gig play?

I think commentators will be talking about how inappropriate it was, and noting how Obama cancelled his appearance the week before due to the crisis.

3. Fitting. It is a comedy show.
andthat's about all Palin's good for nowadays - cheap laughs.

Although it'd be genius if they cast Palin as Katie Couric, interviewing Tina as Palin - or Palin as Hillary. Doubt it'll happen, though.

35. Well, there is precedent for that....
Back in the 90's when they had Mike Meyers portraying Mick Jagger while Mick himself played Keith Richards.

Difference there is that Mick Jagger has brains and acting ability. Moosealini has neither.

Someone else made the point that it is a pretty sad statement that IF this is true, she is doing a comedy show before she does any news show, but if the breeze is blowing for McCain, the media will have no problem advancing this as a positive for McCain/Palin.

20. Given what a great urgency fixing the economy was, and how McCain had to
"suspend" his campaign to do this, and how it was inappropriate for him to appear on Letterman instead of Couric because it's "comedy", this move shows McCain's campaign to have zero credibility. But then again they sacrificed all their credibility from the word go.

These are serious times, and to put this idiot on TV in a comic situation, (I know, I know, it's not like the few interviews she's done so far have not been comical enough) it is wrong. It legitimizes this brain dead, poor excuse for a politician or a human being. People tomorrow will once again be talking about what a "star" Sarah is, and how good she is at "poking fun at herself."

No SNL, no Sarah, no way.

noting that there is no time for comedy during this economic crisis.

Yet Palin is rumored to appear tonight on SNL?

Interesting.

Is the McCain campaign still in "suspended" mode? Was an announcement ever made that the campaign was "on again" or are we to assume as much because McCain appeared at the debate?

31. That's a good point, because, remember....
... the second night after McCain's cancellation on Letterman, Letterman revealed to the audience that McCain told him personally that he'd be happy to send Sarah Palin over for an appearance in the near future. Letterman said, "I'm waiting."

Letterman is going to rip this to shreds come Monday.

38. Even if I'm right...
... remember, this could hurt. It's just another 4th-and-long Hail Mary by McDesperate.

These are serious times and Palin should be spending her Saturday night studying up to appear on a serious Sunday morning political program, the way Joe Biden does.

So it could be spun in a myriad of ways. Now, to be honest she's quite effective at delivering rehearsed lines, but is clearly AWFUL when going off-the-cuff. In a way, in could very well cement that opinion in the minds of the voters. She's an actress. A beauty queen. American Idol.

But no leader, at a time when the country craves leadership.

I for one look forward to the day when she is the answer to some Trivial Pursuit: The Early Millenium Edition question. ;-)

Tina Fey has a request -

Tina Fey has revealed that she hopes Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin will be out of her life very soon.

"I want to be done playing this lady on November 5, so if anyone could help me be done playing her on November 5, that would be good for me," FoxNews quoted Fey, as saying.

If Palin shows up to laugh at herself tonight on SNL, I would hope that every surrogate of Obama/Biden gets on the air and says, "Interesting how she can find the time to do a skit on SNL, but she can't find time for Sunday morning news shows or press conferences in which she answers questions about who she is and what she believes."

I mean, I'm sure it would be amusing, but seriously. She can't take press conference questions and she can't manage to do one Sunday morning political show, but she can make jokes on late-night tv? That says it all to me.

They had their McCain and Obama actors in one commercial telling people to watch SNL, with the McCain actor suddenly blurting out something like "I think we should cancel the show so that I can deal with the economy".

The fact that they'd make fun of it suggest to me, hopefully, that they do a skit making fun of McCain's stunt.

Since Sarah Palin is being seen more and more as a complete lightweight, going on SNL might make people LIKE her more, but again ... doesn't it also advance that she is, indeed, a lightweight? It seems like a play for the Morning Joe/pundit crowd. They'll love it, but frankly, if Obama's people play it right, it just reinforces the idea that Sarah Palin is a Not Ready for Prime Time Player, eh?

I hope she goes on live television and tells McCain she doesn't want to be on his ticket of failure and he can shove it. THAT would make for great TV. 79. no, he was out by then. his monologue was a "why you should have voted for me" bit
that was also the show where Rage Against the Machine tried to hang upside down flags as protest of Forbes and were kicked off and not allowed to perform their second song.
they've been banned from the show ever since

74. with all due respect, you need some new sources.
