Remember Ross Perot, and his running mate, the highly decorated, and equally confused retired Vice Admiral James Stockdale? Stockdale may have been an accomplished military man, but in the political arena, he was like a fish out of water- I wonder if in debates, Palin will be as embarrassingly bad as Stockdale?
If anything, these 2 gave us fodder for some of the best SNL sketches. The recent spoof on Palin on SNL was hilarious, but that can't even touch Dana Carvey and Phil Hartman as Ross Perot and the utterly confused Vice Admiral James Stockdale. I have a hunch though Palin may debate as poorly as the good Vice Admiral.

1. I don't remember that debate well, but I think Stockdale wasn't actually dumb
He just wasn't a politician or a debater. I do remember being horribly embarrassed for him because he was (as I recall) a good and decent man. And he hadn't made a big deal out of being a pit bull before running and hiding. So, there are a few differences. :)

2. No. Not at all. Sadly she is actualy doing fairly well for him.
I agree that she is clueless and arguably insane. But that isn't what matters. What matters is what she does for his numbers and so far, despite her being clearly out of her depth, she has done fine.
Hopefully the debate will change that. But remember who she is meant to target. A poor debate performance probably will not have an impact on her shoring up the base that wants to hear what she is saying. It won't affect sexist voters. So the only question is how it will affect a small number of undecided voters which really aren't what she was brought on to target IMO.
