McCain's bet was that AMERICANS REALLY ARE THAT STUPID
Chris Hayes of The Nation said this on Countdown the other night, talking about McCain's Hail Mary plays.

Could it be that Americans are FINALLY seeing through the tricks and lies of the hollow right??

Please tell me yes ~ I've been waiting for this for decades! :)

1. To paraphrase Leonard Cohen
All men to wisdom will come
But like a refugee.

Actually, half of Americans *were* thinking, informed people all the time. Unfortunately, we have a big country with a lot of places for minds to sink down and go fetid. Information changes that.

3. This seems to be the premise of the entire McCain campaign
The reason that they continually use bald-faced lies and misrepresentations is that they know that many people will not ever be exposed to the truth. When the media gets fed-up with the sheer volume and hubris of their lies, then team McCain resorts to blaming the media. But I think that they have gone too far and it is boomeranging on them.

5. That is so true - and I'm stunned by the number of people who buy the lies...
Just had a heated discussion in a coffee shop with a guy who has bought the drill, baby, drill bullshit hook, line and sinker ~ it's astounding.

I sure hope enough people are seeing through it all ~ we need to reach CRITICAL MASS!

7. It will also be the end of Karl Rove's larger than life
"evil genius" reputation. What havoc they have wrought.

8. Isn't it sad that our culture encourages and rewards guys like Rove?
In the book The Sociopath Next Door (which I wholeheartedly recommend) psychologist Martha Stout talks about how some cultures recognize and don't tolerate sociopaths and other cultures admire the very traits that make them so dangerous. I hope more of us learn to recognize and stand up to these people!
