DEBATE BODY LANGUAGE
There's been a lot of talk about the literal posture of each candidate during the debate. How Obama stood tall and appeared confident and amiable, and how McCain was hunched over and looked "angry." How McCain NEVER ONCE looked Obama in the eyes. Now admitedly, we're all Obama supporters on here, so there's an obvious bias, but I'd like to go back to before the debate even started -- before a word was spoken. When they walked out onto the stage and went to shake each others hands, I asked my wife these questions.
Does McCain look like he hates Obama?
Does McCain look like he resents Obama?
Does Obama look like he hates McCain?
Does Obama look like he resents McCain?

Trying to be as objective as possible, it seems clear to me the answer is yes to the first two, and no to the second two.

This is important as it speaks to character and temperment. How can you sit down with people you don't agree with -- whether they're memebers of another party, or leaders of another country -- if you can't even create the appearance of cooperation? His disdain for Obama is so apparent, it's scary. I would like to think the potential leader of the free world had more control over his emotions...

2. I have to admit I found it painful
You know when you're trying to talk to someone who is angry with you and they refuse to make eye contact--it's a defeating kind of feeling. To completely shut down all eye contact with Obama was the weirdest tactic I've ever seen, especially when Lehrer was telling him TELL SENATOR OBAMA!

Obama stood tall in spite of it but it just felt icky, icky, icky. The fundies on the board I have to mod say it was of course because of McCain's old war injuries that he can't physically look that direction.

riiiiiiight.

3. McNut is a personable as a rock.
He is not even a nice person. You can overlook a persons physical appearance if they would just act like a human being occasionally. :dem:
