Stop dancing on Palin's grave before the VP debate: here's why:
because the press will lower the bar for her so low earthworms can crawl over it.

just like they did with Dubya in the Kerry debates.
as long as she doesn't defecate on herself onstage, the'll patronizingly pat her back like a good little beauty pageant contestant.

instead, we should keep RAISING THE BAR of expectations on her.

The fact is, she's going to more prepared than in an interview because a debate follows certain PREDICTABLE topics that can have memorized answers. She'll do BETTER in the debate than we're hoping for that reason.

we need to concentrate not on her PERFORMANCE but on the subtance of what she'll have to say.

thus ends my soapbox.

:)

5. It matters more what the viewing voters think than the press
Her supporters are going to be shocked after the debate.

6. The MSM does have a history of enabling morons.
Just consider Dan Quayle. Benson wiped the floor with that dunce but the next day the MSM acted like it was a tie for that very same reason -- Quayle managed to show up and somehow managed to not defecate on himself.

8. Who cares what the initial media reaction is?
They've have to spin it in Biden's favour when he wins the panels of undecideds and the post-debate polls by 35+ points.

9. she's going to do FAR better in the debate than in the interviews. count on it
she will be able to speak on her talking points, and there won't be any GOTCHA type questions.

Count on it, she's going to do well. She might not look amazing, but she won't crap herself.

10. Even the press is too embarrassed to pretend
she has any business being in a national campaign at this point. The worm has already turned.

14. My expectation of bothV VP candidates...
...is that they prove to me that they are ready to step in and be POTUS in a heartbeat.

Actually, McCains constant "you don't understand" comments, and "you're not ready to lead" comment, tell me that he has very high standards. If he thinks that Palin DOES understand all aspects of foreign policy and IS ready to lead, then I will expect her to do MUCH better than Obama.

If Palin doesn't do better than Obama, then she is clearly not ready to lead...by McCain's standards.

17. Supposedly McCain Camp is Scared To Bits --
according to item on Mudflats

http://www.themudflats.net/

referencing Ed Schultz web site - clip

Capitol Hill sources are telling me that senior McCain people are more than concerned about Palin. The campaign has held a mock debate and a mock press conference; both are being described as “disastrous.” One senior McCain aide was quoted as saying, “What are we going to do?” The McCain people want to move this first debate to some later, undetermined date, possibly never. People on the inside are saying the Alaska Governor is “clueless.”
