2. Biden needs "message control." I'll be honest (read the post before replying, thanks)
Edited on Sat Sep-27-08 09:02 AM by Essene
He needs to control his tongue and stay on message.

His arrogance is showing when he constantly just blurts on silly stuff without thinking or taking pause.

In my view, for the first time ever, this election is 100% Obama's. The debate absolutely solidifies his lead in the swing states and popular vote. They cannot control world events, however. But they can control their blunders.

Biden going out there and declaring this "won" already is perhaps the single dumbest thing he could do.

He really needs the big Dems to keep telling him to control his damned tongue and to stay on message, without constantly winging it with snotty comments, blunders and bloopers. He could destroy this cleared path to victory.

And you know what?

The GOPrs are going to turn there attention on Biden now that Obama has performed so well at the debate.

WHen even the Daily Show is mocking his utterly absurd statements, there's a very serious ticking time bomb...

22. So you have contempt for everyone then, not just Biden...
You can't stand Joe Biden, Hillary Clinton or Obama "fan boys." You know my mom told me once that if you ain't got nothin' nice to say... Who did you want for VP, Tim Kaine?

As far as Joe Biden and his "flubs" well guess what, people know that about him. He can actually get away with it a bit and people (except you of course) will say, "That's just Joe." So now it's a bad thing for your VP candidate to profess confidence in his running mate and express said confidence to the MSM. Joe is not a problem for Obama and it was a smart move on Obama's part to have chosen Joe but I guess you think you know better than the Obama campaign so we'll just bow to your superior knowledge.

Was that sincere enough for you?

15. Honestly, Joe's verbosity is nothing new. Obama knew this when he picked him...
I don't look at Biden's recent gaffes as anything more than what they are - gaffes. OTOH, when you look at someone like Palin, those are not gaffes. Her words scream of incompetence and incoherence. I don't get that at all from Biden.

I can see where you might be coming from, but I don't completely agree with the assessment. :)

19. it's not a question of gaffes. it's a question of undermining the message and momentum.
i like joe biden.

the trolls here will try to deny the real issue im getting at, but when he's out there calling "fatal blows" to the mccain campaign, it's going to easily be picked up by the Foxtards and used re-galvanize their base.

think about it.

it's WAY off message...

21. Well, you mentioned his blunders and bloopers, which is why I brought up gaffes..
I think the Obama campaign picked Joe so he could be the attack dog that Obama is not. It's not an uncommon role for a VP candidate. Again, I can see your point to some extent, but I don't see that base breaking toward Obama anyway. I say wait until the VP debate this Thursday to see how Biden acquits himself. I think he'll do very well, will not come across as nasty a la McCain last night, and will calm the fears of any doubters. Cheers. :)

42. If Obama wanted a scripted partner on his ticket, then he shouldn't have picked Joe.
And contrary to what you say, that is the very reason why many of us love Joe.
We don't want someone who spews out talking points. We want someone that is quick thinking and not afraid to say things like "bullshit" when describing Bush's comments. Or say things like "he's pushing us off a cliff" when describing Bush's policy in Iraq. Or using "malarkey" to describe McCain's bs.

If you wanted someone that sticks to talking points - sorry - but you are going to be really disappointed for the next month.

10. Oh BULLSHIT.
Mccain declared HIMSELF THE WINNER AT 10:30 YESTERDAY MORNING, BEFORE THE DEBATE EVER TOOK PLACE.

Get a clue. This IS POLITICS. If you don't have the stomach for it, then move on.

Why exactly is this "dumb". Should he have declared defeat? Who is your preferred VP pick?

16. fair question. i think declaring "victory" right now is a huge mistage. it's off message.
folks may disagree of course.

i think it's fine to talk about momentum and how the people are going to rally around the ticket in november, but saying mccain's campaign has a "fatal" event is asking for the wrong message.

20. I adore Joe.
He was my man from the very beginning. Sure he can be a blowhard at times, and obviously he does stick his foot in his mouth from time to time, but he has the background and the cred's to mare than make up for it and give himself cover. He's gutsy, he says what he thinks with integrity...and though that does give us the occasional blunder, it also gives us gems like the interchange illustrated in this video. He is an excellent counterbalance for Obama. I'll take Joe over anyone else in the pool anyday.

41. Look, don't worry about Biden. He is attacking John McCain hard, that is what we want.
Joe thinks and talks so fast sometimes he just blurts out stuff but everyone and their Grandmother knows that its Joe being Joe. I saw The Daily Show and you had to watch the part with Palin too. The point was while you have one VP candidate so accessible you can catch him saying mistakes just be greatful because if Palin was VP she would be in hiding. Just relax, Obama's got this. I love Joe, he really gave it to McCain tonight. He is supposed to be an attack dog so Obama does not have to be. I mean was that not the problem with Lieberman and Edwards? Joe won't back down from a fight and he will kill Palin at the debate.

30. Ya know on one hand
I can agree with you. On the other Me Thinks taking the spotlight off of Obama at this point might be a good thing. insofar as running out the clock. Obama is young the VP will most likely stay the VP. while the odds are much greater that Phalin would have to take over. there fore arguing Biden is full of gaffs, miscues and running on. May distract in a good way. focusing on Biden removes focus on Obama and Distracts to (really) a non issue.

37. not really
just the normal trash talk before the "game". as I do with posters in my local Conservative news paper. where the laughter comes in is just after any debate then it is quotes and zingers, back and fourth til the opposition shuts up. sometimes it is quick sometimes it takes longer if the debate is close. sometimes none at all.

40. Did you watch the vid?
Cuz this sounds pretty on message to me:

John was mired in the past like he usually is...He's been dead wrong on these issues & he's tethered to a failed policy that got us in this position...the surge is over, what's John's answer? What does he do next? How do we leave Iraq & leave it stable? Barak's laid out exactly how to do that...the last point is John talks about protecting America. He hasn't voted for the 9/11 commission recommendations. John hasn't voted for the veterans. The DAV rates him at 20% Disabled Veterans of America...

And let Stewart & the fauxbots pick up Joe's fatal comment. Great! We want the public to associate the word fatal with McCain -- fatal politics, fatal mistakes, fatal future.
