Or any raise at all?

Isn't that all Barack really needs to say in an economic forum?

Isn't that the ultimate in "connecting" with the middle class?

Hammer that line 5 or 6 times, right in McCain's face !

My suggestion for next time.....

2. I got a fairly decent raise by changing jobs. Other than that,
have not kept up with inflation.

5. hell - we're not even CLOSE to keeping up with inflation.
I pay almost double what I used to for groceries and gas is 3 times as much as it was.

My "raises" have averaged 3% a year.

7. Took a 12% pay cut to keep my job
Totally sucks. I hate that place, but had to accept it because I need the health insurance. Been looking for something else, but there really isn't anything out there.

Yes, he needs to hammer home that if wages had kept up with housing prices, we wouldn't be in this mess. Byron Dorgan stated in his book, "Take This Job & Ship It" that if minimum wage had kept up with CEO wages since the early 90s, it would be $23.08 now. :wow:

You build your economy on consumption & then you starve the goose that lays the golden egg?

on edit: A friend of mine works for a company that was purchased by another company. She took a pay cut to keep her job - it was that or a severance package. Her annual review was scheduled for October. She was just told that her review will not include a pay review, only performance, so she is looking at another year before her wages will be reviewed. :eyes:
