Obama broke the cardinal rule, and thats how he won the snap polls and not the pundits
Edited on Sat Sep-27-08 07:26 AM by Boz
Obama told the truth, agreed with his opponent and answered the questions he was asked.

The very simple thing that offsets people is when a politician is asked a question and he or she gives an answer that has nothing to do with the question, or a politician is asked for a direct yes or no answer and and their answer rambles on and says either no commitment or often worse commitment to BOTH Yes and No.

Its one of the things that challenged Hillary in the primaries and one of the things that raised her negatives and it is exactly what most people picked up from McCain last night.

One of the other interesting points I saw was while we the political junkies and the pundits on tv mentioned was how many times Obama said John had it right or I agree with John, while this seems to have raised some hackles and McCain even jumped on it with a quick response ad, it is interesting that what is being held against Obama is that HE TOLD THE TRUTH when he made those statements, everyone knows in politics you don't admit the other guy is right even if he is.

Those two elements did not slip by John Q Public, those are the two things I saw watching non Political junkies watching the debate, was he answered questions he was asked but McCain didn't and that Obama admitted truthfully when he agreed with McCain.

And that s why all of the snap polls say Obama won, while most of the pundits say McCain, because Obama broke the cardinal political rule Obama told the truth and answered the questions he was asked and thats what independents and non political junkies were looking at, a man with the answers and telling the truth who will be our next President.

1. Keep in mind, the pundits are paid by the corporations and
Obama - the next likely president - plans to stop the corporate gravy train.

2. I thought it was ingenious myself.....
Because I realized who his target audience was.....

and the nicer he was, the meaner McCain seemed in contrast.

That's what Obama talks about; a new kind of politics.

Watch McCain's favorable go down....

and I know that Obama knows that the best way he can get folks to vote for him that might not normally, it to get them not to like the other guy.

3. You are so correct. He is the CHANGE we need, and is a breath of fresh air.
Partisans will not see that, on either side, but so many out there are just not that partisan, and I believe they are hungry for a leader who will tell it like it is.

Hope so, anyway.

5. Bottom line is how 'independents' view it
not pundits, not people whose minds were already made up. Independents are the likeliest to vote with their emotional gut, not their rational faculty or ideological conviction. My emotional intuition says that polls favor Obama after last night because of body language and tone, Obama's being so relaxed, personable, and conciliatory, and McCain's being defensive, brittle, and condescending. I swear, the election's outcome will come down to such piffle...

7. Four years of this grumpy phony?
Do Americans want four years of snap decisions from this cranky drama queen? Do they trust McCain to cut spending and do they fear the spending he will cut will further erode our infrastructure? Will he get us out of Iraq? Will he get us into more wars when his temper is out of control?
